    摘要: A two-wire process variable transmitter for use in an industrial process, including a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of a fluid of the industrial process. Output circuitry is configured to provide an output on a two-wire process control loop which is related to the sensed process variable. Loop current measurement circuitry measures a loop current flowing through the two-wire process control loop and terminal voltage measurement circuitry measures a voltage related to a terminal voltage of the process variable transmitter. The terminal voltage can be a voltage measured across an electrical connection of the two-wire process variable transmitter to the two-wire process control loop. Input circuitry is configured to receive a diagnostic command from the two-wire process control loop. A microprocessor configured to perform loop diagnostics on the two-wire process control loop based upon the measured loop current and terminal voltage in response to receipt of a diagnostic command from the two-wire process control loop.

    摘要: A motion detector combines an FCC approved homodyne pulsed range-gated radar (“RGR”) detector (10) and a PIR detector (158). Narrow microwave pulses are transmitted at a predetermined pulse repetition frequency (“PRF”) and the pulses are reflected by a target. The RGR detector senses the presence of moving human sized objects within predetermined ranges. Moving objects beyond the ranges are not sensed. The RGR detector employs a pulsed microwave oscillator (12) that is triggered by a system clock (14) and immediately retriggered after a 3 to 100 nanosecond delay (20). The duration of each pulse is 3 to 20 nanoseconds with a half-sine envelope shape. The RGR employs a homodyne detector (36) and shares an antenna (38) with the transmitter. The receiver range is determined by the delay imposed between the transmitted pulses, the first being a transmitted pulse and the second being a local oscillator pulse. Each received 5.8 GHz pulse is mixed down to a baseband by the homodyne detector. The detected baseband signal is amplified, processed, and filted to frequencies below 100 Hz. If the output exceeds a predetermined threshold, an alarm condition is indicated. The threshold is adjustable as a function of range and may be set to discriminate object sizes. The PIR detector operates conventionally, but its output is logically combined with the RGR detector output to reduce false-alarm indications.

    摘要: A barrier device threadably mounts to a cabling aperture on a field mounted transmitter. The field mounted transmitter receives and transmits signals, and is wholly powered by a current loop circuit. The barrier device has a conductive housing with at least a first and a second aperture and a pair of conductors passing through the first aperture of the barrier device, for connecting to a terminal block in the transmitter. A pair of signal terminals, preferably as ring tongue lug, is mounted in the second aperture of the barrier device. The signal terminals are connectable to a handheld communicator, which is used to calibrate, monitor and test the transmitter. A barrier circuit is mounted in the housing and is electrically connected between the signal terminals and the conductors. Signals from the communicator access the terminal block through the barrier circuit, and the barrier circuit limits the power available at the signal terminals. One embodiment of the barrier device has a third aperture directly across from the first aperture. The first aperture threadably connects to the transmitter, so that cabling from the transmitter can pass through a passageway formed between the first and third apertures. Another embodiment has a stub shaped housing, with one end of stub being the first aperture, and the other end being the second aperture. The first aperture threads to the cabling aperture on the transmitter, and the barrier circuit is potted in the stub shaped housing.
