Abstract: A hearing system comprises a hearing device, e.g. a hearing aid, configured to be worn by a particular user at or in an ear, or to be fully or partially implanted in the head at an ear of the user. The hearing device comprises at least one microphone for converting a sound in the environment of the hearing device to an electric input signal. The hearing system, e.g. the hearing device, comprises a processor comprising an own voice analyzer configured to characterize the voice of a person presently wearing the hearing device based at least partly on said electric input signal, and to provide characteristics of said person's voice, and an own voice acoustic channel analyzer for estimating characteristics of an acoustic channel from the mouth of the person presently wearing the hearing device to the at least one microphone based at least partly on said electric input signal, and to provide characteristics of said acoustic channel of said person. The hearing system further comprises a user identification unit configured to provide a user identification signal indicating whether or not, or with what probability, the person currently wearing the hearing device is said particular user in dependence of said characteristics of said person's voice and said characteristics of said acoustic channel of said person.

Abstract: A method of programming a configurable signal processing unit of a hearing aid device comprises Providing a frequency transposition algorithm in the hearing aid device where content from more than one upper-lying source frequency band is copied or moved into one and the same lower lying destination frequency band; Providing a number of frequency transposition configurations, each comprising a specific combination of source regions and a destination region; Providing a weight parameter that specifies the amount of gain applied to a lowered signal resulting from a given frequency transposition configuration; and Providing a prescription algorithm that selects an optimum frequency transposition configuration for an ear of a user taking an audiogram for the ear in question and an amplification capability of the hearing aid device in question into account. A purpose of the disclosure is to provide an improved audibility of high frequency sound for users with severe-to-profound hearing losses.

Abstract: An apparatus for determining cochlear dead region comprising a sound generation unit, an output transducer, and a control unit. The control unit causes the sound generation unit to provide a first electrical sound signal representing a first frequency band adjacent to a frequency region of interest, with a first bandwidth, a first sound pressure level and a first subsequent electrical sound signal representing a first subsequent frequency band comprising the frequency region of interest with a first subsequent bandwidth, a first subsequent sound pressure level, and a first subsequent time delay to the first electrical sound signal. In response, the output transducer generates a first output sound and a first subsequent output sound with the first subsequent time delay. A user compares the first output and first subsequent output sounds and decides, whether he hears a difference between the two sounds and gives a positive or negative decision input.

Abstract: A hearing device, e.g. a hearing aid, comprises A) an input unit providing an electric input signal with a first dynamic range of levels comprising a target signal and/or a noise signal; B) an output unit providing output stimuli; C) a dynamic compressive amplification system comprising c1) a level detector unit providing a level estimate of the electric input signal; c2) a level post processing unit for providing a modified level estimate in dependence of a first control signal; c3) a level compression unit for providing a compressive amplification gain in dependence of the modified level estimate and a user's hearing data; and c4) a gain post processing unit for providing a modified compressive amplification gain in dependence of a second control signal; D) a control unit configured to provide a classification of said electric input signal, and to provide said first and second control signals based on said classification; and E) a forward gain unit for applying the modified compressive amplification gain to the electric input signal. A method of operating a hearing device is furthermore provided.
