Abstract: An example device for upconverting video data includes a memory configured to store video data; and a processing system comprising one or more processors implemented in circuitry, the processing system being configured to: determine an amount of motion between a region of a first frame of the video data and a corresponding region of a second frame of the video data; determine a number of frames to interpolate between the first frame and the second frame according to the amount of motion; and interpolate the determined number of frames to upconvert the video data.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for image signal processing that support improved correction of motion artifacts within image frames. In a first aspect, a method of image processing includes receiving a first image frame and a second image frame, determining a motion map indicating motion of objects within the first and second image frames. Additionally, motion hotspots may be identified within the second image frame based on the motion map. A temporal filtering process may be applied to portions of the second image frame located within motion hotspots to generate a corrected image frame. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for conserving resources when performing motion estimation. An example process can include determining, based on an input image and a reference image, motion vectors identifying motion between the input image and the reference image; determining whether the motion indicated by the motion vectors is below a first threshold; based on a determination that the motion indicated by the motion vectors is below the first threshold, refraining from determining a local motion between the input image and the reference image; determining a transform matrix based on the motion vectors and without using a local motion between the input image and the reference image; and adjusting the input image based on the transform matrix.

Abstract: Frame buffering technologies are described. An example device includes camera hardware configured to receive a plurality of frames, a first memory device that implements a buffer, and a second memory device that consumes greater power than the first memory device. The device also includes processing circuitry coupled to the camera hardware, and to the first and second memory devices. The processing circuitry is configured to form a plurality of snapshot frames using a subset of the plurality of the received frames, to store the plurality of snapshot frames to the buffer implemented in the first memory device, and to receive a capture command. In response to receiving the capture command, the processing circuitry may identify, as a capture-selected snapshot frame, a first snapshot frame of the plurality of snapshot frames stored to the buffer, and push the capture-selected snapshot frame to the second memory device.
