Abstract: A combustion chamber comprising an upstream end wall, at least one annular wall, at least one fuel injector and at least one seal. The at least one annular wall being secured to the upstream end wall. The upstream end wall having at least one aperture. Each fuel injector being arranged in a corresponding one of the apertures in the upstream end wall and each seal being arranged in a corresponding one of the apertures in the upstream end wall and around the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. Each seal having an inner surface facing the corresponding one of the fuel injectors and an outer surface facing away from the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. Each seal abutting the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. The downstream end of each seal increasing in diameter in a downstream direction and the upstream end of each seal having a radially extending flange. Each seal having a plurality of coolant apertures extending axially through the radially extending flange and/or each seal having a plurality of thermal conductors extending axially from the radially extending flange to the downstream end of the seal.

Abstract: A combustion chamber arrangement comprises an annular combustion chamber, a plurality of circumferentially arranged vanes and a radially inner sealing ring. The vanes are arranged at the axially downstream end of the annular combustion chamber. Each of the vanes comprises an aerofoil extending radially between a radially inner platform and a radially outer platform. The radially inner sealing ring forms a seal between a downstream end of a radially inner annular wall structure of the combustion chamber and the radially inner platforms of the vanes. A portion of the axial length of the radially inner sealing ring comprises a radially inner wall and a radially outer wall spaced radially from the radially inner wall to define a chamber. The radially inner wall has apertures to supply coolant into the chamber and the radially outer wall has effusion cooling apertures to supply coolant onto the surface of the radially outer wall.

Abstract: A combustor arrangement includes a fuel injector, and a seal arranged around the fuel injector and having an upstream end and a downstream end. The seal includes an annular body at least partially abutting the fuel injector. The annular body includes an inner surface facing the fuel injector and an outer surface radially spaced apart from the inner surface relative to the central axis. The annular body further includes a plurality of slots disposed on the inner surface and circumferentially spaced apart from each other relative to the central axis. Each slot axially extends at least partially from the downstream end to the upstream end. Each slot is disposed in fluid contact with the fuel injector. The seal also includes a flange radially extending from the outer surface of the annular body at the upstream end.

Abstract: A combustion chamber comprises an upstream end wall structure and inner and outer annular wall structures. The upstream end wall structure comprises an upstream wall and a plurality of circumferentially arranged heat shields secured to the upstream wall. The upstream wall has a plurality of circumferentially spaced fuel injector apertures. Each heat shield has radially outer and radially inner ends and a fuel injector aperture aligned with a corresponding fuel injector aperture in the upstream wall. The radially outer and inner ends of each heat shield have outer and inner rails spacing the heat shield from the upstream wall. The radially outer and inner ends of each heat shield have first and second pluralities of circumferentially spaced apertures extending there-through and through the associated outer and inner rails to direct coolant over the surface of the outer and inner annular wall structures to form respective films of coolant.

Abstract: A combustion chamber comprises an upstream end wall, at least one fuel injector and at least one seal. Each fuel injector is arranged in a corresponding aperture in the wall. Each seal is arranged in a one of the apertures in the wall and around one of the fuel injectors. Each seal has a first portion, a second portion and a third portion. The second portion abuts the corresponding fuel injector. Each seal has a plurality of circumferentially spaced coolant passages extending longitudinally there-through from the upstream end to the downstream end of the seal to provide internal convective cooling of the seal to improve the working life of the seal.
