Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operating a lock function in an electronic device are provided. The method includes displaying an image on a lock screen when the lock screen is called; detecting a user input in a state in which the image is displayed; and releasing the lock screen when the user input is identical with a lock release value, wherein at least one of a point, a line, and a plane forming an image corresponding to the image is included in a drawing value for releasing the lock screen.
