Abstract: A robot and a method for controlling the robot is provided. The robot includes: at least one sensor; a speaker; a microphone; a driver; at least one memory storing one or more instructions; and at least one processor configured to execute the one or more instructions, wherein the one or more instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the robot to: generate a map comprising information regarding a plurality of objects based on sensing information obtained through the at least one sensor, generate ultrasonic waves toward each of the plurality of objects through the speaker, obtain reflectivity information regarding the plurality of objects based on reflected sounds reflected from each of the objects and received through the microphone, and store the reflectivity information, the reflected sounds reflected from each of the objects being at least a portion of the ultrasonic waves reflected from each of the objects, based on receiving a user voice through the microphone, obtain information on an intensity of the user voice for each of a plurality of directions, obtain information on a plurality of candidate directions from which the user voice is received from among the plurality of directions based on the information on the intensity of the user voice for each of the plurality of directions, obtain priority order information for the plurality of candidate directions based on a position of the robot and the stored reflectivity information, and obtain information on a direction in which the user voice is uttered from among the plurality of candidate directions based on the priority order information.

Abstract: A speech recognition method includes receiving a first multi-channel audio signal; obtaining at least one of a speech signal characteristic or a noise signal characteristic for at least one frequency band of frequency bands corresponding to channel audio signals included in the first multi-channel audio signal; generating a signal with an enhanced speech component by performing beamforming on the first multi-channel audio signal based on the speech signal characteristic, a speech signal characteristic obtained for a previous frame that was obtained before a certain time that the first multi-channel audio signal was obtained, and the noise signal characteristic; determining whether the enhanced speech component includes a wake word; and based on determining that the enhanced speech component includes the wake word: activating a speech recognition operation based on the signal with the enhanced speech component.

Abstract: An electronic device of the present disclosure comprises: a communication unit; a memory; and a processor for: detecting a voice section in an audio signal acquired by the electronic device; identifying whether a wake-up word stored in the memory exists in a user voice included in the detected voice section; when it is identified that the wake-up word exists in the user voice, transmitting, via the communication unit, the user voice to a server for providing a voice recognition service; and when response information for the user voice is received from the server, providing a response to the user voice on the basis of the received response information, wherein the processor identifies that the wake-up word exists in the user voice, when a part of the user voice matches the wake-up word. In particular, a method for acquiring a natural language for providing a response may use an artificial intelligence model learned according to at least one of machine learning, a neural network, and a deep learning algorithm.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus and a controlling method thereof are provided. The electronic apparatus includes a microphone, a camera, a memory configured to store at least one command, and at least one processor configured to, based on a first user voice being input from a user, provide a response to the first user voice, based on an audio signal including a voice being input while the response to the first user voice is provided, analyze an image captured by the camera and determine whether there is a second user voice uttered by the user in the audio signal, and based on determining that there is the second user voice uttered by the user in the audio signal, stop providing the response to the first user voice and obtain and provide a response to the second user voice.
