Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling an electronic device are provided. The method includes driving a plurality of Operating Systems (OSs) controlling different mode states of the electronic device. A first OS among the plurality of OSs is set such that the first OS is executed in a first mode state. A second OS among the plurality of OSs is set such that the second OS is executed in a second mode state. While the first mode state is executed by the first OS, a control item executable by the second OS is displayed in the first mode state. In response to receiving an input relating to the control item, a control action corresponding to the control item is performed under the second mode state.
