Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display, memory storing one or more computer programs, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the display and the memory, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to display a first execution screen of a first application on the display, identify whether the first application is required to be displayed as an icon in response to a request for displaying an execution screen of a second application, based on that the first application is required to be displayed as the icon, display an icon, for displaying a partial area of the first execution screen on a second execution screen while displaying the second execution screen of the second application on the display, and based on that the first application is not required to be displayed as the icon, display the second execution screen of the second application on the display.
