Abstract: The optical element for surgical microscopes having antifogging properties, antibacterial properties, and durability against autoclave treatment is provided, the optical element including a substrate, an antireflection coating arranged on the substrate, and an antifouling coating layer containing acrylic polymer arranged on the antireflection coating, in which C—H bonding of carbon of the end of the surface of the antifouling coating layer is substituted by C—OSi(OH)3 by a combustion chemical vapor deposition method. A method for production thereof includes steps of coating a solution containing alkoxysilane having an acrylic group on the antireflection coating so as to form the antifouling coating layer, and substituting C—H bonding of carbon of the end of the surface of the antifouling coating layer by C—OSi(OH)3 by a combustion chemical vapor deposition method using silane based gas.

Abstract: An electro-optical distance meter includes a light source configured to emit light for distance measurement, a detector configured to receive the light and generate a distance measurement signal, a calculator configured to measure the distance from the distance measurement signal, an external optical path configured to guide the light from the light source to a target as measurement light, an internal optical path configured to guide the light from the light source directly to the detector as reference light, and a liquid shutter that can select one of the external and internal optical paths as the optical path through which the light from the light source travels by switching a region of light-blocking liquid.
