摘要： An apparatus (270) for shucking oysters includes a shucking head (272) adapted to be mounted on a mounting assembly. The shucking head includes means for supporting the oyster in a position so that a lower shell of the oyster is supported on a pair of arms (282, 284) of support members (274, 276). The shucking head also includes means for wedging the oyster in a position so that an end of the oyster is wedged against a selected wedging member (278, 280). The arrangement of support members and wedging members is such that the oyster is held in a stable position to allow a person to use a knife to shuck the oyster with one hand.

摘要： A clamp for safely opening oysters and the other molluscs. It works as a pincer to trap an oyster to be pryed open. The clamp consists of two half-shells, hinged together at their rear ends to a closed position forming an oyster receiving enclosure opened at the front to expose the oyster. The bottom half shell is larger than the top half shell so as to receive the latter and thus vary the size of the enclosure to trap oysters of different sizes. The front edge position of the two half shells form outward ribs serving as a hand shield for the users hand, which presses onto the half shells to trap an oyster and hold it firmly while the other hand uses an oyster knife to pry it open.

摘要： An oyster shucking board is a tool for use when shucking oysters. There is a slot on one end for storing the knife needed to open an oyster, so it will be handy and available when preparing to shuck oysters. A notch or raised edge added to the underside of one side helps to secure the board to a countertop, and a circular indentation on the topside contains the juice when the oyster is shucked. A dock in the center of the board provides a convenient and safe way to hold the oyster while the knife is inserted between the two halves of its shell to open it. The juice and shell fragments will be collected and discarded easily, without leaving a mess on the countertop. The oyster shucking board is able to be made from wood, plastic, ceramic, or stainless steel.

摘要： A device particularly for use in the home or by customers in restaurants, which facilitates the opening of clams or oysters. Known machines for opening oysters are of much too complicated construction to be of any practical value for use in the home or by customers in restaurants. This drawback is overcome by providing an oyster board which facilitates the opening of clams or oysters. The board is of simple construction in order to permit its use by adults and children alike. The improved oyster board comprises a base with a rear wall extending upwardly from the base. The base includes a receiving depression in the upper surface thereof, the depression being situated in the base adjacent at least one longitudinal groove in the rear wall. The at least one groove is situated adjacent the upper surface of the base, and is thereby adapted to receive an edge portion of an oyster or clam therein. The base has a leg portion extending downwardly therefrom, the leg portion adapted to engage an edge of a surface on which the board is placed during use, so as to retain the board in position when in use. A flexible grip is provided for manually holding the oyster or clam in the depression during opening thereof with an oyster knife. The grip has a curved upper surface which spans the width of the depression, with opposite edges of the curved upper surface resting on the upper surface of the base. The grip is sufficiently flexible as to be brought into engagement with an upper part of the oyster shell when pressure is applied to the grip by one's hand. The grip includes means to protect one's hand from accidental cutting from the oyster knife when opening the oyster or clam.
