    摘要: A retractable, reflective pavement marker for delineating traffic lanes of roadways and a method of installing the same that provides improved protection from potentially damaging vehicle tires, snowplows, and environmental conditions. The marker incorporates a reflector assembly mounted to a piston that is depressible within a housing. A biasing member returns the reflector assembly to its normal position above the road surface. A compliant adhesive cooperates with an adhesive lock formed between the housing and the opening to ensure that the marker is reliably retained within the pavement. The adhesive and a chamfered opening prevent pavement spalling due to external forces. The housing includes a removable retainer through which the piston is reciprocally received. The retainer includes a plurality of coarsely pitched lead-in threads that cooperate with a threaded housing. Multiple lead-in threads provide sufficient thread engagement, while substantially decreasing the number of rotations to achieve full engagement.

    摘要: A traffic sign for use in a paved road has a housing with an open upper end. A holder is vertically movably received in the housing. A light emitting unit is installed in the holder to move therewith. A transparent plate is mounted on the holder to move therewith. The transparent plate permits a light from the light emitting unit to transmit therethrough. A space is defined between a bottom of the housing and a lower end of the holder to permit the vertical movement of the holder in the housing. An elastic support ring has an inner wall fixed to an outer surface of the holder and an outer wall fixed to an inner surface of the housing. Projections are formed on the elastic support ring. Each projection projects upward beyond the transparent plate. Recesses are provided by the elastic support ring. Each recess is defined between the projections, so that the light from the light emitting unit is viewed through the transparent plate and each of the recesses.

    摘要: A raised pavement marker includes a reflector assembly that is resiliently supported by a membrane, that in turn is supported by a frame. The reflector assembly includes a skirt that overlaps the membrane, thereby allowing large-area reflectors and low-angle ramp surfaces. A vent is formed between the skirt and the membrane, and this vent is resistant to clogging. Locating elements are placed on the frame of the pavement marker to assist in proper installation of the marker in a recess of a roadway, such that all portions of the frame are positioned below the surface of the roadway. Indentations allow the installer to gauge the level of adhesive in the recess.

    摘要: A self-cleaning pavement marker adapted to be installed in a groove below the plane of the driving surface of an associated roadway to provide a retroreflective light signal visible to an oncoming vehicle. The marker comprises an integrally formed elastomeric body adapted to be positioned in a longitudinally extending groove cut in the roadway surface. The body includes an upper portion for receiving a retroreflective lens means. The lens means is effective a retroreflect light impinging upon its front face from an oncoming vehicle back toward the vehicle. The upper body portion of the marker is depressible between a normal position wherein the lens means is positioned below the plane of the associated roadway to retroreflect light impinging on the front face from an oncoming vehicle back toward the light source, and a depressed position caused by the force of a vehicle tire passing over the upper body portion. Wiping means is positioned below the plane of the associated roadway and is integrally formed with the body, and is positioned adjacent to the front face of the lens means, and is configured and arranged such that the wiping means does not interfere with the retroreflective function of the lens means when the body portion is in the normal position. Upon depression of the upper body portion to the depressed position, and its return to the normal reflecting position, the front face of the lens means moves past the wiping means and in direct contact therewith, whereby the wiping means effects a debris-cleaning and wiping function. The marker is effective as a snowplowable marker, particularly where studded tires are permitted.
