摘要： A tennis racket has a head having head strings passing through string holes and lieing substantially in a single plane. There is a groove running along a portion of the outside periphery of the head. A flexible member is slidably received in the groove. This member has string apertures therethrough which can register or substantially register with the string holes in the head and the head strings are strung through the said string apertures as well as the string holes. In the throat of the racket there is a tensioning device comprising at least one pinion having a toothed periphery which threadedly engages with teeth on the end portion of the flexible member. By rotating the pinion the flexible member will be moved so as to vary the tension of the strings. A pawl prevents unwanted return movement of the pinion.

摘要： A tennis racket frame having a head portion with strings strung thereacross. Holes located in the head portion receive knotting blocks which serve as mounts for the strings. The knotting blocks have two legs and an extending shank arranged in a T-shaped configuration. A central bore is located through the shank of the knotting block for the reception of the strings. One leg of the knotting block is also provided with a bore that is perpendicular or parallel to the central bore. The strings pass through the central bore of the block, through the bore in the leg of the block and then under a portion of the string that extends from the central bore to form a looped string end. The leg of the knotting block that contains the bore also has an undercut portion that allows the string to be wrapped around the leg.

摘要： A game racket and apparatus for adjusting the tension in the strings of a game racket. The game racket has a frame which forms a head. A handle is connected to the frame. The frame has a series of holes around its circumference. String or wire is laced through the holes of the frame to form a striking surface. The tensioning apparatus includes a screw which is threadedly mounted in the frame so that the string or wire passes over the head of the screw. The screw extends through the frame. The screw has engaging means exposed to the interior of the frame. The tension in the string is adjusted by turning the screw by means of the engaging means. The head of the screw may have shallow notches for releasably holding the string and for calibrating the adjustment of tension on the string.

In a preferred embodiment, the segments are arranged in parallel tiers, and weave over and under intermediate strings between junctions. An apparatus and method for stringing the racket is included. A simple tension adjustment can be added to the racket, which adjusts the tension over the entire playing surface.

摘要： A racket for tennis, badminton, squash or the like. The racket has a generally conventional oval frame with a handle. A one-piece molded plastic meshed netting is provided with oval strands parallel to the oval frame and radiating strands intersecting and bracing the oval strands. Thickened ends of the radiating strands pass through holes in the frame where they are secured either by a belting strand passing through loops at the ends of the radiating strands or by merely passing through the loops of adjacent radiating strands. The belting strand and other pairs of radiating strands are hooked onto one of two pins each in a tube in the handle. The tubes are adjustable axially by a screwthreaded plug and a screw at the butt end of the handle, each cooperating with one of the tubes for adjusting the tension of the netting.

摘要： An improved racket is provided, for tennis and similar games, which incorporates a means for adjusting the string tension so that a proper tension may be maintained at all times when the racket is in use, and so that the tension of the strings of the racket may be relieved when the racket is not in use. The racket includes a resilient frame with an elongated handle attached to one end. The frame has a looped head portion with holes extending around its periphery to accommodate the strings. One string is mounted on the frame in a series of lateral passes extending across the area circumscribed by the head portion of the frame, a second string is mounted on the frame in a series of passes which extend vertically across the circumscribed area. Two plastic-encased metal arms are mounted to extend partially around both lower sides of the head portion of the frame. Appropriate grooves are formed in the plastic casing of the arms, and the lower ends of the vertical passes are looped around these arms. The ends of the arms are attached to an adjusting means which serves to pull the vertical passes into tension, thereby producing a compressive load on the frame of the racket. The frame then extends its lateral dimension to redistribute the load and produce equalizing tension on the lateral passes.
