Abstract: A method of providing a haptic output includes detecting a condition; determining if a head-mounted haptic accessory comprising an array of two or more haptic actuators is being worn by a user; determining an actuation pattern for the array of haptic actuators; and in response to detecting the condition and determining that the head-mounted haptic accessory is being worn by the user, initiating the actuation pattern to produce a directional haptic output that is configured to direct the user's attention along a direction.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a display and an input region separate from the display. The device detects a first portion of a first input on the input region. In response to detecting the first portion of the first input: if the first portion of the first input meets first criteria that do not require a characteristic intensity of the first input to increase above a first intensity threshold in order to be met, the device displays a precursor object of a user interface object that includes one or more selectable options. While displaying the precursor object, a second portion of the first input is detected on the input region, wherein an intensity of the first input increases above the first intensity threshold. In response to detecting the increase in intensity, the device reveals the user interface object by an amount that varies with a current intensity of the first input.

Abstract: An electronic device detects an input sequence that includes an increase in intensity of an input that corresponds to a first input event. If the input sequence includes a second input event, including a decrease in intensity of the input after the first input event, a long press is not detected and a first operation is performed. If the second input event is not detected within a second time period that is longer than the first time period and the input had a characteristic intensity above a respective intensity threshold between when the first input event was detected and when the second time period elapsed, a long press is detected on an accelerated basis, and a second operation is performed. Finally, a long press is detected if the second input event is not detected within a longer, default time period, and the second operation is performed.

Abstract: An electronic device: while displaying a user interface, detects an input sequence that includes detecting an increase in a characteristic intensity of a contact on a button. In response, the device determines whether the increase is above a first intensity threshold and whether a change in the characteristic intensity proximate to a time when the characteristic intensity increases above the first intensity threshold has a first or a second value for an intensity-change metric. If the increase is above the threshold and the change has the first value, the device performs a first operation that changes the user interface displayed on the display; and generates a first discrete tactile output that corresponds to the increase. If the increase is above the threshold and the change has the second value, the device performs the first operation and generates a second discrete tactile output that corresponds to the increase.

Abstract: An electronic device receives an incoming communication and determines that the device is in a first use context. In response to receiving the incoming communication, the device provides first feedback that includes a first ongoing audio output that corresponds to the first use context and a first ongoing tactile output with a first tactile output profile that corresponds to the first use context. While providing the first ongoing audio output and the first ongoing tactile output, the device detects that the electronic device is in a second use context, different from the first use context. In response to detecting that the electronic device is in the second use context, the device provides second feedback that includes a second ongoing tactile output that has a second tactile output profile that corresponds to the second use context.
