In particular, the example methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture generate digital spectral signatures for use in identifying media information. Initially, a frame of media samples is obtained. A first frequency component having a first spectral power and a second frequency component having a second spectral power are identified by performing a spectral transform operation on the frame of media samples. A descriptor of the first frame of media samples is determined based on a comparison of the first spectral power and the second spectral power. A first signature is then generated based on the descriptor.

    摘要: A signature is extracted from the audio of a program received by a tunable receiver such that the signature characterizes the program. In order to extract the signature, blocks of the audio are converted to corresponding spectral moments. At least one of the spectral moments is then converted to the signature. Also, a test audio signal from a receiver is correlated to a reference audio signal by converting the test audio signal and the reference audio signal to corresponding test and reference spectra, determining test slopes corresponding to coefficients of the test spectrum and reference slopes corresponding to coefficients of the reference spectrum, and comparing the test slopes to the reference slopes in order to determine a match between the test audio signal and the reference audio signal.

    摘要: An encoder transforms at least a portion of a signal, counts the resulting transform coefficients having a zero value, and encodes the signal with the zero count. A decoder decodes the signal in order to recover the zero count. The decoder may also determine its own zero count of the signal as received and may compare the zero count that it determines to the recovered zero count. The decoder may be arranged to detect compression/decompression based upon results from the comparison, and/or the decoder may be arranged to prevent use of a device based upon results from the comparison.

    摘要: An encoder is arranged to add a binary code bit to block of a signal by selecting, within the block, (i) a reference frequency within the predetermined signal bandwidth, (ii) a first code frequency having a first predetermined offset from the reference frequency, and (iii) a second code frequency having a second predetermined offset from the reference frequency. The spectral amplitude of the signal at the first code frequency is increased so as to render the spectral amplitude at the first code frequency a maximum in its neighborhood of frequencies and is decreased at the second code frequency so as to render the spectral amplitude at the second code frequency a minimum in its neighborhood of frequencies. Alternatively, the portion of the signal at one of the first and second code frequencies whose spectral amplitude is smaller may be designated as a modifiable signal component such that, in order to indicate the binary bit, the phase of the modifiable signal component is changed so that this phase differs within a predetermined amount from the phase of the reference signal component. As a still further alternative, the spectral amplitude of the first code frequency may be swapped with a spectral amplitude of a frequency having a maximum amplitude in the first neighborhood of frequencies and the spectral amplitude of the second code frequency may be swapped with a spectral amplitude of a frequency having a minimum amplitude in the second neighborhood of frequencies. A decoder may be arranged to decode the binary bit.
