摘要: A device including a network interface is marked for determination of the position or orientation of the device. In particular, the markings can include a pattern and proportions that enable determination of at least one of a position and an orientation of the device relative to a station using appearance of the markings as observed from the station.

摘要: Methods and means related to memory resistors are provided. A memristor includes at least two different active materials disposed between a pair of electrodes. The active materials are selected to exhibit respective and opposite changes in electrical resistance in response to changes in oxygen ion content. The active materials are subject to oxygen ion reconfiguration under the influence of an applied electric field. An electrical resistance of the memristor is thus adjustable by way of applied programming voltages and is non-volatile between programming events.

摘要: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to systems that can be used as holograms and can be electronically controlled and dynamically reconfigured to generate three-dimensional motion picture images. In one embodiment, a dynamically reconfigurable hologram (1200) comprises a phase-control layer (1202) including a two-dimensional array of phase-modulation pixels (1212). The hologram also comprises an intensity-control layer (1204) including a two-dimensional array of intensity-control pixels (1214). One or more three-dimensional motion pictures can be produced by electronically addressing the individual phase-modulation pixels and intensity-control pixels in order to phase and control the intensity of light emanating from pixels of the hologram.

摘要: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to micro-electro-mechanical systems and photonic interconnects employing micro-electro-mechanical systems. One micro-electro-mechanical system embodiment of the present invention includes a lens structure and an actuator. The lens structure includes a substantially transparent membrane having a flexible, curved surface, and a reservoir holding fluid that is fluidly coupled to the membrane. The actuator system is operably coupled to the reservoir in order to exert pressure on the fluid to change the curvature of the membrane and the focal point of the lens structure.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to reconfigurable two-terminal electronic switch devices (100) comprising a compound (102) sandwiched between two electrodes (104,106). These devices are configured so that the two electrode/compound interface regions can be either rectifying or conductive, depending on the concentration of dopants at the respective interface, which provides four different device operating characteristics. By forcing charged dopants into or out of the interface regions with an applied electric field pulse, a circuit element can be switched from one type of stable operation to another in at least three different ways. A family of devices built to express these properties display behaviors that provide new opportunities for nanoscale electronic devices.
