    摘要: Large scale sequences and other types of patterns may be matched or aligned quickly using a linear space technique. In one embodiment, the invention includes, calculating a similarity matrix of a first sequence against a second sequence, determining a lowest cost path through the matrix, where cost is a function of sequence alignment, dividing the similarity matrix into a plurality of blocks, determining local start points on the lowest cost path, the local start points each corresponding to a block through which the lowest cost path passes, dividing sequence alignment computation for the lowest cost path into a plurality of independent problems based on the local start points, solving each independent problem independently, and concatenating the solutions to generate an alignment path of the first sequence against the second sequence.

    摘要: A catalyst effective for the production of vinyl acetate by reaction of ethylene, oxygen and acetic acid, comprising a porous support on the porous surfaces of which is deposited catalytically effective amounts of metallic palladium and gold, and prepared by steps comprising impregnating the support with one or more aqueous solutions of water-soluble compounds of the metals, fixing the metals on the support as water-insoluble compounds in one or more fixing steps by reaction with an appropriate alkaline compound, and reducing the water-insoluble compounds of the catalytically active metals to their free metallic form in one or more reducing steps, at least one of the said reducing steps being carried out in an aqueous medium containing a reducing agent dissolved therein or through which a gaseous reducing agent is bubbled, and in which the support containing the fixed water-insoluble metal compounds is immersed, while sonicating, i.e., applying ultrasound waves to, such aqueous medium.

The catalyst is prepared by steps comprising precoating the support with a water-insoluble form of copper, forming on the precoated support a water-insoluble palladium compound, reducing the palladium compound, and, if not previously reduced, the water-insoluble form of copper, to a catalytically effective amount of the free metal, impregnating the copper and palladium containing support with a solution of potassium aurate, and reducing the potassium aurate to a catalytically effective amount of metallic gold. The inventive process results in a catalyst wherein the Pd, Cu, and Au form a shell metal distribution on the catalyst support.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for allowing a user to access the internet from a remote location by using a local internet service provider with whom the user does not have an account. The user logs on to the local internet service provider's system using an identifier that includes the user's identification term and an identifier for the user's home internet service provider server. A first server in the local internet service provider's system determines that the login information includes the identifier for the user's home internet service provider server and sends a query to a second server. The second server verifies that the user's home internet service provider has an account with the local internet service provider and returns an internet protocol address for the home internet service provider's server to the first server. The first server then seeks authorization from the home internet service provider's server to provide internet access to the user over the local internet service provider's system.
