    摘要: A reaction pressure control mechanism of power steering apparatus includes a power cylinder, to which a pressure oil discharged from an oil pump is supplied through a control valve, and oil discharged from the oil pump is branched to be introduced into a hydraulic reaction chamber, which produces steering reaction. A pair of variable restrictions are formed in a supply and discharge passage to and from the hydraulic reaction chamber, and a single spool which is operated by a solenoid is effective to increase the opening of one of the variable restrictions while reducing the opening of the other restriction. A plunger is disposed in opposing relationship with a rod associated with the solenoid and on which the spool is fixedly mounted so that when the oil pressure in the reaction chamber exceeds a given value, such oil pressure is introduced to the backside of the plunger to cause the spool to be driven back, thus reducing the opening of the variable restriction associated with the supply passage.

    摘要: In a rack power-steering system, the axial movements of a helical pinion meshing with the rack, resulting from torque applied to the pinion, cause corresponding movements of the movable member of a control valve of the system. This is achieved through a transmission including a piston movable axially with the pinion and defining a variable-volume compartment filled with a substantially-incompressible, deformable material, such as a fluid (oil or grease) or rubber, this material being intended to transmit a control pressure to the movable member of the control valve through a rod which may be formed integrally with the movable member or as a separate member. The variable-volume compartment is located at one end of a cylindrical chamber of the box of the system within which the piston is slidable and the latter is located in a position axially intermediate the variable-volume compartment and an end of the shaft carrying the helical pinion. When the variable-volume compartment is filled with fluid, sealing devices are interposed between the piston and the wall of the cylindrical chamber and between the rod and its slide seat so as to isolate the chamber from the exterior. The sealing devices may, for example, consist of two sealing rings mounted on the external surfaces of the piston and of the rod respectively, or, for example, of two deformable diaphragms fixed around their peripheries to the wall of the cylindrical chamber with their central parts pressed against the piston and against the rod respectively by the fluid in the variable-volume compartment.

These means also avoid intervention of power-assistance below a predetermined value of the torque onto the pinion. In one embodiment of the control valve which operates in connection with a closed center air circuit, means are provided to minimize the friction forces allowing at the same time the use of a simple and inexpensive structure.

    摘要: In a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering apparatus, axial movements of a helical tooth pinion resulting from a torque being applied thereto cause corresponding displacements of the movable member of a control valve of the apparatus. A piston which moves axially together with pinion defines a sealed chamber of variable volume, which is filled with an incompressible fluid, such as oil or grease. The movable member of the control valve is slidably mounted along an axis different from the pinion axis and is operated by a push-rod having one end surface arranged so as to sense the pressure within the chamber of variable volume. Means are provided for holding the movable member of the control valve in its central neutral position in case the fluid contained within the chamber is lost.

    摘要: A power steering system for vehicles includes a four-way valve slidable in response to applied steering torque for selectively connecting a pair of hydraulic oil chambers of a servo cylinder to a hydraulic pressure source and an oil reservoir. A pair of hydraulic rection chambers are disposed one on each side of the four-way valve and each contain a pair of plungers and a spring interposed therebetween. The plungers are held by and between a pair of diametrical pins supported on the valve and spaced axially from each other. When the reaction chambers are pressurized by an increased speed of the vehicle or a change in resistance from the road surface, the plungers are urged against the pins on the valve to prevent the latter from being slid axially, thereby allowing the driver of the vehicle to feel a suitable resistance to turning of the steering wheel without being assisted by auxiliary power from the servo cylinder.

    摘要: A power assisted gear assembly in which a piston 3 forms with its cylinder opposed chambers 4, 5. Displacement of the piston provides a steering output and such displacement is effected by rotation of an input component 6 which screw threadedly engages the piston 3. Two fluid systems are provided with respective inlets 18, 20 and with the chambers 4, 5 being located one in each fluid system. A valve 10, 15, 16 adjusted by the input component 6 when displacing the piston 3 controls fluid flow through the two fluid systems to an outlet 29 and such valve has a neutral condition to which it is biased by springs 25, 26 or by fluid pressure in the fluid systems in which both fluid systems communicate with the outlet 29 for an open center system. The adjustable part 10 of the valve is in the form of an axially displaceable bearing for the component 6 or a circumferentially displaceable nut through which the piston 3 is driven from the component 6 and this adjustable part is adjusted from the neutral condition of the valve by rotation of the input component 6 and in response to the reaction from the force applied to displace the piston 3 so that such adjustment closes one or the other of the fluid systems, the fluid system which is closed being that in which is located the chamber 4, 5 which under fluid pressure provides assistance to displacement of the piston 3 in the same axial direction as that in which it is driven by rotation of the component 6.There is also disclosed a steering system in which fluid pressure to the inlet ports 18, 20 is derived from the outlets 31, 34 of a flow divider 32.
