    摘要: A pump stroke is matched to the operating speed of a high speed windmill. The windmill drives a hydraulic pump for a control. Changes in speed of a wind driven shaft open supply and exhaust valves to opposite ends of a hydraulic actuator to lengthen and shorten an oscillating arm thereby lengthening and shortening the stroke of an output pump. Diminishing wind to a stall speed causes the valves to operate the hydraulic cylinder to shorten the oscillating arm to zero. A pressure accumulator in the hydraulic system provides the force necessary to supply the hydraulic fluid under pressure to drive the actuator into and out of the zero position in response to the windmill shaft speed approaching and exceeding windmill stall speed.

    摘要: A wind machine turns a shaft to activate a multistage pump having intake and discharge means respectively coupled to intake and discharge fluid lines. Control means regulates the operative positions of the intake means or discharge means to remove selected stages from effective pumping while at the same time fluid passes into and from the selected stages. The stages can be of different capacities and selected groups or all of them may be periodically sequentially idled. Torque on the shaft is thereby adjusted to retain the shaft speed in a range for effective wind energy conversion. During starting the stages are idled until an operational speed is reached. Power assisted starting can be achieved by initially reversing the fluid flow through selected stages. Constricting means is located in the common discharge line from all stages and can be additionally located in each discharge line from each stage. Slowing or stalling of the wind rotor is effected against overspeed by constriction of the flow from the stages to increase the torque on the shaft. Pressure downstream of the constricting means is maintained substantially constant without the need for energy accumulation. The discharged fluid drives a turbine coupled to a generator wherein the fluid power is converted into electrical power.

    摘要: Method and apparatus using parakites, or modified parachutes, for capturing wind energy and for converting the consequent wind-induced linear motion to shaft rotation. The parakite apparatus includes a plurality of trains of parakites, with each train comprising a power line having a plurality of serially coupled parakites secured thereto. The power lines are of sufficient length to allow the parakites to reach an altitude above the earth at which prevailing winds are stronger and more uniform than at the earth's surface. Each train is secured at its earthbound end to a drum or windlass selectively rotatable in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions to either reel in the power lines attached thereto, or to enable the power lines to be pulled upwardly and outwardly by the action of the winds on the parakites. Provision is made, including canopy lines, to selectively collapse the parakites on selected power lines to facilitate the reeling-in procedure. Gearing is provided to translate the rotational movement of each drum to a power takeoff shaft as the drum is rotated by the outward motion of the power line. Unique pulley assemblies are provided to guide the lines during winding and unwinding. The resulting shaft output is utilized to provide energy as, for example, by the operation of standard electrical generators, or air compressors.

    摘要: The invention comprises a water circulator device for circulating the water in a lake, pond, or reservoir. The device comprises a raft having a wind driven shaft mounted thereon for vertical rotation. A mixing chamber is mounted beneath the raft with the upper edge of the chamber above the surface of the lake, pond, or reservoir. The lower end of the shaft has a propellor mounted thereon within the mixing chamber. A pair of vertical telescoping pipes are mounted beneath the chamber of reduced diameter in relation to the chamber. The upper pipe is fixed to the bottom of the chamber and the lower pipe is adjustable relative to the upper pipe so that the lower end of the pipe may be located near the bottom of the lake whereby the wind may rotate the shaft to rotate the propellor with the propellor acting to draw water from the bottom of the lake up through the telescoping pipes into the mixing chamber and up over the top edge of the chamber for circulating and aerating the water in the lake during the winter months with the water at the bottom of the lake being sufficiently warm normally to keep the lake, pond, or reservoir from freezing over in the area of the device while the device is in operation.
