摘要： A flanged connector for removably fastening an elongate rod or tube to a flat surface has two modes of operation. The connector has a flange with a flat bottom and a tubular member extending up from the base. In a first mode, the flanged base is fastened to the surface with the tubular member upstanding to receive the rod in a central passage. A threaded aperture in the wall of the tubular member receives a set screw that advances transversely through the wall to engage the rod and secure it in place. In a second mode, the connector is inverted and mounted below the support surface with the flat face of the base in a common plane with the support surface. A set screw that passes at an acute angle to the passage axis extends from the flat face to the central passage to secure the rod. When the rod is removed, the support surface is unobstructed.

摘要： An insert assembly for installation in a workpiece having a threaded hole. When the inner insert is axially received within the outer insert, the mating surfaces of these members are configured such that the inner insert applies a radial outward force to the outer insert to securely install the insert assembly in the workpiece. A stud assembly also is provided for installation in the workpiece hole. The stud assembly comprises a stud body and a stud. When the stud is axially received within the stud body, the mating surfaces of these members, like the insert assembly, are configured such that the stud applies a radial outward force to the stud body to securely install the stud assembly in the workpiece. Both the insert assembly and stud assembly are particularly adapted for use with workpieces made of relatively soft or lightweight materials.

A plurality of arms (16) are engaged in the post (14), each arm including a retaining end (30) joined to a flat portion (22) by a waist (28). The waist is dimensioned to fit within the shorter dimension (34) of the aperture (18). The flat portion (22) of the arm (16) has a hole (24) threaded to receive a bolt (20). A leg portion (26) extends from the flat portion for contacting the plate (12). Tightening the bolts (20) clamps the plate (12) into abuttment with the post (14) and the legs (26) of the arms (16).

摘要： A novel alignment element for connecting two tubular members having substantially the same inside diameter is provided. The alignment element comprises a cylindrical member having an outside diameter at one end that can be press fitted into one of the tubular members and an outside diameter at the other end that is slightly smaller to permit a slip fit with the other tubular member. A novel coupler for connecting two tubular members is provided that has end portions each having an outside diameter slightly less than the inside diameter of the tubular member into which they are inserted and a centrally located collar having substantially the same outside diameter as the tubular members.

摘要： A safety rail and a connector for adjustably attaching an end piece to a tubular bar of the type used in safety rails. The end piece has a recess adapted to receive an end of the tubular bar and an opening for receiving a screw which passes through the end piece into the bottom of the recess to engage in the connector. The connector includes a crossbar having a lug at each of its ends. The lugs extend outwardly for attaching the connector to an inside surface of the bar. An integral tubular portion of the connector extends inwardly from the crossbar to define a threaded opening to receive the screw for drawing the end pieces to the bar. Each of the ends of the rail has one connector and one end piece.
