Abstract:
The apparatus includes means for severing the body of earth contiguous to the roots of the plants from the surrounding ground; and means for relatively removing the plants from the body of root-contiguous earth, including means for lifting the plants in relation to the ground, and means for agitating the body of root-contiguous earth when it is severed from the ground, so as to loosen the earth and reduce its cohesion with respect to the roots, before the plants are lifted in relation to the ground. The apparatus is thus able to harvest the plants without undue damage to the roots. In addition, damage to the stems is minimized through the use of a special elastomer-faced belt lift mechanism as part of the lift means; and a rapid harvesting rate is maintained through the use of a special apparatus and technique for collecting and discharging the plants from the lift mechanism in a containerized condition.
Abstract:
A self-lubricating harvester machine for harvesting row crops that is connected to and powered by a tractor includes a plurality of pairs of grasper-cutter devices that are arranged circumferentially in a protruding fashion from the peripheral of a wheel-like structure. Power-driven mechanisms are associated with the two formed wheel-like structures and operate the grasper-cutter devices that grasp, cut and pull the row crop as the devices contact the ground and that move to an open position upon leaving the ground to discharge the row crops.
Abstract:
A harvester of row-crops attachable to and powered by a tractor, comprising a harvesting-grasper for pulling row crops from the ground. A plurality of pivoted levers are equipped each with a grasper blade. Through cam action the relating grasper blades enter the soil, are moved together to grasp the crop plants, lift them out of the ground and discharge them.
Abstract:
Harvester for beans and the like having a mobile support for parallel rows of bean plants, a pair of convex laterally disposed disks rotatably mounted on the support having peripheral notches, and being spaced apart and spaced to correspond substantially to the spacing of adjacent plant rows, and having their axes tilted transversely and rearwardly and having their convex faces adjacent their peripheries adapted to ride on the ground inwardly and forwardly of the disk centers, means for rotating the disks so their adjacent peripheries move rearwardly at the approximate forward speed of the support, stripper means overlying the adjacent areas of each disk adapted to move the plants of two rows into a common windrow between the disks, stripper plates disposed over the concave sides of each of the disks in an area opposite to the stripper bar areas, and a floating spring counterbalance support connected to the mobile support employing parallelogram linkages.
Abstract:
In an agricultural self-propelled harvesting machine a hingejoint connection of the fixed frame with the movable frame which carries the working members, said hinge-joint connection enabling the movable frame to turn both round the longitudinal and the transverse axes of the machine. The front axle of the machine carries stop blocks upon which the cantilevers of the movable frame are free to rest, said stop blocks enabling the movable frame to move both horizontally and vertically depending upon the variation of the front axle position.
