摘要: An evaporator coil heat exchanger assembly of a refrigeration system, such as a transport refrigeration system, which includes an electrical heating element for rapid defrosting of the evaporator coil with its attendant refrigerant carrying tubes and cooling fins. The electrical heating element is quickly attached to the collective edges of the cooling fins by a plurality of low cost spring retainer clips which have one portion which extends between two closely spaced cooling fins to hook a refrigerant carrying tube, and another portion which holds the heating element against edges of the cooling fins with a spring force. The spring retainer clips may be just as quickly removed should the heating element require replacement. Only three curved sections are required to be formed in a single length of wire to form the active elements of the spring retainer clip, and a handle portion is formed in the remaining portion of the single wire length.

摘要: A freezing refrigerator has a freezing box with side plates, top and bottom plates, and a back plate. Foodstuff products may be stored in the freezing box. The top, bottom and back plates are made of thermal conductive material. First and second envelopes are provided around the outer surfaces of the top and bottom plates. The top plate is cooled at a lower temperature by at least 5.degree. C. than the bottom plate. A heater is disposed on the outer surfaces of the top and bottom plates for purpose of melting the frost intensively produced on the inner surface of the top plate. The outer surfaces of the top and bottom plates have hydrophilic and smooth surfaces. The outer surface of the top plate is slanted downwardly toward the back plate with an inclination at approximately 10.degree. with respect to the horizontal surface. The defrosted water flows down along the outer surface. The outer surface of the top and back plates are provided with a receptacle for collecting water drops. The collected water is guided into the drain tube continuous to the outside of the freezing chamber.

摘要: A refrigerated display cabinet of the open top or open front type having a conduit extending around a storage and display space in the cabinet between an inlet and an outlet, refrigerated coils located in the conduit, air circulating fans for propelling air through the conduit over and/or around and/or through the refrigeration coils in a first direction during a refrigeration cycle, and in a second substantially opposite direction, during a defrost cycle, whereby during a defrost cycle ambient air is drawn into the conduit through the outlet and is passed around and/or through the refrigeration coils to defrost same, a supplemental defroster located in the conduit upstream of the refrigeration coils in the direction of air flow through the conduit in the defrost cycle; and, a sensing and control mechanism coupled with the supplemental defroster for sensing defrost conditions during the defrost cycle and for energizing the supplemental defroster means upon the detection of an abnormal defrost condition to thereby accelerate the rate of defrost.

摘要: An improved defrosting means for a condenser in a freeze drying apparatus including a thermocouple for monitoring the condenser temperature during a freeze drying cycle, and an electric cartridge heater for defrosting the condenser after the freeze drying process, both of which are insertable into the structure of the condenser. The cartridge heater, in association with a highly-conductive woven mesh disposed in the interior of the condenser, provides for a uniform distribution of thermal energy throughout the condenser to quickly and efficiently cause layers of ice and frost on the outer surfaces of the condenser to break up and drop away.

摘要: A two-temperature refrigerator appliance having a refrigerator unit operated by a single compressor set, a refrigeration loop with two evaporator sections connected in series, one evaporator associated with a cold compartment and the other with a warmer compartment, a control element associated with the colder compartment disposed in the electric circuit of the compressor set, a control element associated with the warmer compartment having a constant switching-on point above the freezing point, several heating elements switched on by said warmer compartment control element with one heating element disposed adjacent a refrigerant collector connected to the refrigeration loop and another element disposed adjacent the sensor of the colder compartment control element, and at least one intermittently operated additional switching element disposed in the electric circuit of the compressor set. In the preferred form there is a double-throw switch for a defrosting heater, an on-off switch controlling the compressor set independently of the control element in the colder compartment, and a third switching member in the circuit of the double-throw switch and associated with the on-off switch whereby closing the on-off switch opens the switching member and vice versa.

摘要: A control for selectively energizing a plurality of electrically operable devices in a refrigeration apparatus. The control senses an ambient condition and correspondingly controls the energization of the electrical devices. In the disclosed embodiment, the electrical devices comprise stile and mullion heaters for controlling condensation on the refrigeration unit cabinet with the control being responsive to the ambient humidity conditions in effecting control of the energization of the heaters. The control is arranged to selectively energize both heaters with full operating current, or only one of the heaters and at reduced current, depending on the sensed humidity and temperature conditions. In the illustrated embodiment, the control utilizes rectifiers in effecting the current control with one of the rectifiers being a gated rectifier responsive to the sensed ambient air conditions.

摘要: A refrigerator control circuit is provided for delaying the starting of the air circulating freezer fan until after the free moisture on the evaporator coils has frozen upon the completion of a defrost cycle. A single throw-double pole defrost limiter thermostat controlled by a bimetal snap acting disc having one set of contacts closing to the freezer fan and its remaining set of contacts closing to the defrost heater, thereby preventing the freezer fan from being energized until the evaporator has returned to below freezing after the completion of the defrost cycle.

摘要: A plate and tube heat exchanger assembly includes a plurality of coolant transporting tubes and a plurality of spaced plates to be periodically defrosted. The tubes pass through the plates and are in heat conducting relationship therewith at junction points with the plates. At least one but less than all of the plates may be modified, according to the instant invention, to include an electric heating element disposed at one end thereof for imparting heat through the plate and to the tubes and other plates at the junction points therebetween at predetermined times for periodic defrosting. The thickness of the plates having heating elements associated therewith are of a greater thickness than the remainder of the plates.
