摘要： A printing or stamping device for marking checks and similar documents comprises a rotatable type ring having a plurality of types around its periphery and a keyboard having a plurality of manual key-switches each corresponding to one type on the type ring. An angular position detector detects the angular position of the type ring and includes a coded disc which rotates in synchronism with the type ring and develops successive position signals indicative of the successive angular positions of the type ring. Control circuitry including a memory stores data typed-in on the keyboard and transmits successive typed-in signals to a coincidence detector which detects the coincidence of a typed-in signal and the corresponding position signal and provides a coincident signal. The coincident signal activates a stopper mechanism to stop the rotation of the type ring at a position where the typed-in type faces the check. A lever system then pivots the type ring to print that type on the check after which the check is advanced one space in readiness for the next printing. After the printing and advancement of the check, the stopper mechanism releases the type ring and the cycle is repeated until all of the typed-in data is printed on the check.

摘要： For applying characters to tacky sheet material, an apparatus comprising a holding means which releasably holds at least one printing block having at least one intaglio printing face formed by at least one image well, at least a portion of which forms a reservoir for containing a supply of freely flowable powdered ink. A flexible tacky sheet material is adhered over the printing blocks and ink adhered to the tacky surface to provide a desired character arrangement. The printed tacky sheet material can then be adhered to, or the characters transferred to, any desired surface such as signs, posters, etc.

The checks travel in the direction of their lengths, permitting checks of different lengths to be accommodated, and pass through a quality monitor which can check each of a line of machine-readable characters added in the printing machine.

摘要： A checkwriter having differentially settable printing sectors for printing amounts on checks and for subtracting such amounts from an accumulator which registers the balance in s user''s bank account. The sectors are also used to add amounts in the accumulator representing deposits in the user''s bank account. The sectors are manually advanced to different amount representing positions from home positions wherein they locate special symbols to be printed in lieu of amounts. After printing, the sectors are returned towards their home positions and during this movement they digitize the accumulator. Overthrow preventing means momentarily arrest the sectors and accumulator at zero registration of the sectors. The accumulator is then demeshed and the sectors are further returned to home positions. Intermeshing check locating members are provided to adjust a check relative to the printing line.

摘要： A platen assembly for use with a money order printing machine or the like having a frame, means defining a printing line, type segments having printing characters positionable on the printing line and an operating lever. The platen assembly comprises a platen supported by rocker arms, and actuating mechanism means interconnecting the rocker arms with the operating lever. The actuating mechanism includes compression springs disposed between the rocker arms and the operating lever and control links adapted to selectively prevent rocking movement of the platen support arms. Initial movement of the operating lever toward a printing position creates potential energy through compression of the springs, which energy is released as the operating lever is moved substantially to its printing position and releases the control links thereby effecting impact movement of the platen into pressure contact with an instrument disposed between the platen and the printing line.
