Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to the application of media effects, such as visual overlays, sound effects, etc. to a video conversation. A media effect may be applied as a reaction to an occurrence in the conversation, such as in response to an emotional reaction detected by emotion analysis of information associated with the video. Effect application may be controlled through gestures, such as applying different effects with different gestures, or canceling automatic effect application using a gesture. Effects may also be applied in group settings, and may affect multiple users. A real-time data channel may synchronize effect application across multiple participants. When broadcasting a video stream that includes effects, the three channels may be sent to an intermediate server, which stitches the three channels together into a single video stream; the single video stream may then be sent to a broadcast server for distribution to the broadcast recipients.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are described that enable users to interact and share content through a social network application and/or service with other users. A social networking system may receive status information (e.g., a heartbeat) associated with a first account, where the status information includes first location information and/or first activity information associated with the first account, and may determine a status signal based at least in part on a context associated with the first account and the status information. The social networking system may determine a status associated with the first account, where the status includes second location information and/or second activity information associated with the user device which is less specific than the first location information and first activity information. The social network system may send the status to a second account.

Abstract: Techniques are described that determine when content to be shared by a user may be offensive, and providing the user with a notification that the content may be offensive. In some examples, the user may be provided with a notification that includes a selectable option allowing the user to withdraw or undo the content from being shared, additional information regarding why the content was determined to be offensive, content sharing guidelines, and/or advice for how to revise the content to be less offensive. In some examples, the notification may be presented for a predetermined period of time, and the content may be held in a pending state and not shared with other users until expiration of the predetermined period.

Abstract: A method for editing video clips includes obtaining a latest video clip to be appended to a series of video clips, each video clip of the series of video clips recorded separately from each other. The method also includes, prior to recording a next video clip, displaying the latest video clip in response to receiving a request to navigate back to the latest video clip. The method also includes editing the latest video clip through a timeline, the timeline comprising thumbnails of the latest video clip, wherein editing the latest video clip comprises adjustments to the latest video clip. The method also includes generating an edited video clip based on edits to the latest video clip. The method also includes appending the edited video clip to the series of video clips. The method also includes recording the next video clip for appending to the edited video clip.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes establishing access to first and second different computing systems. A machine learning model is assigned for training to the first computing system, and the first computing system creates a check-point during training in response to a first predefined triggering event. The check-point may be a record of an execution state in the training of the machine learning model by the first computing system. In response to a second predefined triggering event, the training of the machine learning model on the first computing system is halted, and in response to a third predefined triggering event, the training of the machine learning model is transferred to the second computing system, which continues training the machine learning model starting from the execution state recorded by the check-point.
