Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards an autonomous topology management scheme in a wireless communications network that establishes a hierarchical structure from a peer-to-peer network without assistance from the wireless network. A group of user equipments negotiate with each other to elect a local manager that acts as a base station by which other user equipments of the group can access network resources. Described is an example voting scheme by which the negotiation process elects the local manager for a term.

Abstract: A system includes a plurality of communication apparatuses grouped into groups, a delivery apparatus that delivers content to the communication apparatuses that belong to the groups, and a communication control apparatus that performs grouping. The communication control apparatus groups the plurality of communication apparatuses, determines a content reproduction start time to start reproducing the content for each of the groups, notifies the communication apparatuses in each of the groups of the content reproduction start time; and performs control such that the content is delivered in order from a group having an earlier content reproduction start time to a group having a later content reproduction start time. Each of the communication apparatuses receives the content, stores the received content, and reproduces the content stored in the storage unit according to the reproduction start time notified from the communication control apparatus.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for routing a service request to an appropriate web service. A first service request is routed from a first web service to a second web service. Routing factors associated with the second web service are monitored. A determination is made as to whether the routing factors indicate that the second web service is no longer appropriate for handling service requests. If the routing factors indicate that the first web service is no longer appropriate for handling service requests, then a second service request is routed from the first web service to a third web service. The first web service, the second web service, and the third web service are included in a composite service.

Abstract: A mechanism associated with a network management system (NMS) interprets and predicts the impact on a network of a network configuration change proactively. By providing pre-configuration analysis in this manner, a network administrator can determine the potential effect of the proposed configuration change in advance of actually inserting a configuration command in the network that might otherwise have unforeseen and damaging consequences. The technique is implemented using a predictive analytics engine that receives a proposed network command and, using a current network topology, executes the command against one or more NMS algorithms to verify that the command can be implemented safely.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a system that facilitates efficient management of a forwarding information base (FIB). During operation, the system receives, by an intermediate node, a first interest which includes a name and a condition for removing a first entry from a FIB, wherein a name is a hierarchically structured variable length identifier that includes contiguous name components ordered from a most general level to a most specific level. In response to obtaining the first entry from the FIB based on the name for the first interest, the system adds to the first entry the condition included in the first interest as a lifetime value for the first entry. In response to determining that the lifetime value is satisfied, the system removes the first entry from the FIB, thereby facilitating the intermediate node to efficiently manage the FIB based on information provided by a content producing device.
