    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a first indication that the UE is within a distance threshold (e.g., in the near field) of multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) communications from the base station. The UE may communicate with the base station via signaling including a second indication of antenna panel information of at least one of the UE or the base station, the communication based on the UE being within the distance threshold. The UE may receive, from the base station, a first beamformed signal on one or more first beams within the distance threshold, and the CE may receive, from the base station, one or more second beamformed signals on a second beam within the distance threshold, the second beam based on a channel response matrix that is estimated from the second indication and the first beamformed signal.

For instance, a base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), control signaling indicating a configuration for transmitting a reference signal for reconfigurable surface configuration. The base station may receive, via a reconfigurable surface, the reference signal based on transmitting the control signaling. For instance, the reconfigurable surface may reflect the reference signal to the base station using a first configuration of the reconfigurable surface. A wireless device (e.g., a base station) may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a field type of a field between the UE and the wireless device. The indication of the field type may include one or more bits indicating the field type, a measure indicating a likelihood that the field type includes a first field type as compared to a second field type, an indication that the first type is the same as a second field type configured at the UE, or any combination thereof. The UE may select between a first set of beam weight vectors and a second set of beam weight vectors based on the field type. The UE may communicate, with the base station, a reference signal using a beam generated using a first beam weight vector from the selected set.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for connection setup in an orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based communication system are described. A first device and a second device may establish an OAM communications connection between the devices. The first device and the second device may exchange a series of messages over a downlink communications link and an uplink communications link according to an OAM mode. Based on OAM related parameters or OAM related information included in the messages, the first device and the second device may achieve a successful directional alignment (co-axial alignment) between the first device and the second device. A user equipment (UE) may convey uplink control information (UCI) to a base station using a multi-slot or single slot uplink channels. In some cases, however, transmissions scheduled on a first set of resources allocated for multi-slot transmission of a first uplink channel may overlap with one or more slots of a second set of resources allocated for multi-slot transmission of a second uplink control channel. Accordingly, the UE may employ a number of different techniques to transmit the UCI. In a first case, the UE may map the UCI to at least one of the overlapping slots of the first uplink channel. In a second case, the UE may drop the second uplink channel which carries the UCI. In a third case, and the UE may map the UCI to an overlapping slot of the second uplink channel.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a single downlink control information (DCI) to indicate two multicast physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) for UEs of different capabilities. With the single DCI, different UEs with different capabilities may each receive separate PDSCHs, but the base station may transmit a single downlink control channel to signal the single DCI. The DCI may contain information for each of the multicast PDSCHs, such as a modulation and coding scheme, a time-domain resource assignment, a frequency-domain resource assignment, an antenna ports configuration, etc. for each multicast PDSCH. Subsequently, each UE may receive corresponding multicast PDSCHs parameters from this DCI based on the UE type or capability and may monitor for and receive a corresponding PDSCH from the base station. Additionally, the base station may transmit an activation message for the UEs to receive the single DCI.
