    摘要: A handle for a wand of a vacuum cleaning appliance includes a handgrip portion and a conduit for receiving an air flow. The handle includes an aperture for admitting ambient air into the conduit. A first valve occludes a first portion of the aperture, and a second valve occludes a second portion of the aperture. A control mechanism moves the first and second valves away from the aperture to admit ambient air into the conduit. To reduce the force required to move the valves away from the aperture, the control mechanism is configured to move the second valve away from the second portion of the aperture before moving the first valve away from the first portion of the aperture.

The counter-rotating agitators are operable to cooperate with the suction source to direct dust and debris outside the periphery of the housing along a converging debris path, towards the suction inlet.

In some embodiments, when the motor is operating below a given threshold, fixed-width PWM pulses are applied to subsequent revolutions of the rotor instead of phase-advanced PWM pulses.

    摘要: In a method of controlling current in a control circuit of an electric motor, pulse-width modulation (PWM) pulses are applied to a stator of the electric motor, via a plurality of transistors of the control circuit, using a first control mode when a rotational speed of a rotor of the electric motor is within a first range. At least one PWM pulse is applied to the stator, via a subset of the plurality of transistors, using a second control mode when the rotational speed of the rotor is within a second range. When it is determined that the rotational speed of the rotor has changed from being within the second range to being within the first range, additional PWM pulses are applied to the stator such that, for each of the plurality of transistors, a current through the transistor does not exceed a maximum current capacity of the transistor.

    摘要: A belt drive system for a mechanical cleaning device that require counter-rotating brushes and/or scrubbers, comprising two belts 42 and 44, a drive shaft 36, a pulley 32, and two rotary brushes 22 and 24. The first belt 44 engages drive shaft 36 and rotary brush 24 by friction contact and transfers rotary power from shaft 36 to rotary brush 24 through the rotation of belt 44. The second belt 42 engages pulley 32 and rotary brush 22 by friction contact so that they turn together. Pulley 32 is positioned relative drive shaft 36 so that the exterior surface of first belt 44 engages the exterior surface of second belt 42 by friction contact. Rotary power is thereby transferred from belt 44 to belt 42 by this friction contact between the two belts. Because the exterior of two belts 42 and 44 are in friction contact they must the must rotate in opposite directions and thereby drive rotary brushes 22 and 24 in opposite directions, respectfully.
