摘要： Mounts are provided on the inside surface of the left and the right sides of a seat cover on the underside of a chair, and positioning pins with heads and fastening members are provided on the upper surfaces of the bases of armrests. Each mount includes keyholed-shaped positioning holes respectively having holes for insertion of the heads of the positioning pins and slits of a width suitable for slidably receiving the rods of the positioning pins. Each mount also includes a support hole for the fastening member to be engaged in. When the positioning pins are located at the rear ends of the slits of the positioning holes, the armrest is fixed to the mount through the support hole by the fastening member. Thus the armrests are removably assembled with the chair body. The seat cover has upper and lower protrusions which contact the mount and the base of the armrest, respectively. The mount is bent so that its outboard and inboard portions are inclined relative to each other.

摘要： An armrest assembly for attachment to a chair includes a base plate. The base plate can be secured, in a chair of the type including a (i) seat bottom cushion on which a person can sit, (ii) a pedestal assembly supporting the seat bottom cushion, and (iii) a plurality of fasteners securing the pedestal assembly to the underside of the seat bottom cushion, between the seat bottom cushion and the pedestal. The base plate has a plurality of fastener openings equal in number to the number of fasteners in the chair to which the armrest assembly is to be attached. The fastener openings are arranged in the same pattern as the fasteners in the chair to which the armrest assembly is to be attached. The base plate can have at least two sets of fastener openings arranged in different patterns, whereby the base plate can selectively be secured intermediate the pedestal assembly and the seat bottom cushion of at least two different chairs having different fastener patterns. The armrest slides relative to the armrest support, allowing the armrest to be moved laterally, rather than only arcuately, compensating for the arcuate motion provided by a pivot joint. The armrest assembly is responsive to downward force on the armrest from the person's arm to restrict movement of the armrest relative to said base. Pressure (i.e., weight of the arm or gravity) locks the armrest into a given position, providing a more stable working platform.

The arm support includes an armrest pivotally mounted on a slide for sliding the armrest to and away from a base which is secured to a table or chair. The slide is pivotally mounted in the base such that the armrest, which is pivotal relative to the slide and slidable to and away from the base, is also rotatable about the base to provide for a wide range of fluid motion for the forearm. The armrest further includes a roller bearing slide arrangement for facilitation of the fluid motion of the slide and arm support. The roller bearing slide arrangement engages the slide relative to the housing to provide for the fluid movement of the slide.

摘要： A chair with freely attachable and removable armrests comprises a basic chair unit wherein a leg and a back rest portion attached to a frame on a lower surface of a seat portion, the two ends of the lower surface in the lateral direction of the seat portion being provided with armrest attachment portions. An attachment end portion provided at the lower end of each armrest comprises a positioning protrusion portion that can be inserted into a positioning hole provided in an internal portion of one of the armrest attachment portions. An attachment base portion (spacer) is positioned and held in close contact with guide surfaces along a guide portion of the armrest attachment portion, and a removal-prevention element in the armrest attachment portion is provided for preventing the removal of the attachment end portion. Thus, armrests can be removed from the basic chair unit by a simple operation.

摘要： Laminated cushion formed of a plurality of alternating, relatively rigid and relatively soft layers of resilient foam has a higher compression rate in the direction of an axis parallel to the planes of the layers than in the transverse direction. Thus, when the cushion is positioned with the planes of the layers arranged vertically, the cushion is usable as an armrest. When it is positioned with the planes of the layers arranged horizontally, it is usable as a pillow. In a modification, the cushion can be added to the side of a conventional armrest on an aircraft passenger seat to increase the width thereof while being easily compressed sideways to accommodate larger framed passengers.
