Abstract: Methods for hosting low-latency streaming interactive audio/video (A/V) include executing one or more video games or applications on a server communicatively coupled to a data network. Packet streams are received from a plurality of users and routed to the one or more video games. The packet streams include user control input that are used to compute A/V data in response. The A/V data are received from the video games or applications. Portions of the A/V data are compressed in parallel using processing units resulting in low-latency streaming compressed A/V data. The low-latency streaming compressed A/V data are routed to each of the users over a corresponding data network communication channel. The executing of video games, receiving of packet streams and A/V data, compressing portions of the A/V data and routing the compressed A/V data are performed with a latency such that at least one user has the perception that the controlled video game is responding instantly.

Abstract: The present invention relates to communications methods, apparatus and systems for providing media micro-services in a scalable and efficient manner. In an exemplary method embodiment, a packet plane control service entity performs the following operations: (i) receives a request from a Signaling-Session Border Controller to implement one or more micro-services on a media packet stream, the request including information about the media packet stream including stream identification information; generates instructions for one or more entities under the control of the packet plane control service entity to implement the requested one or more micro-services on the media packet stream; and communicates the generated instructions to the one or more entities under the control of the packet plane control service entity for implementation on the media packet stream.

Abstract: A system for facilitating efficient multicast traffic management for service discovery is provided. During operation, the system can identify a set of multicast entries associated with a multicast flow in a multicast forwarding data structure of a switch. A respective entry of the data structure can indicate how a corresponding multicast packet is forwarded. If a subset of the multicast entries shares one or more network parameters, the system can compress the subset of the multicast entries based on the shared network parameters to generate a generic entry. The generic entry can then replace the subset of the multicast entries in the data structure. Subsequently, the system can determine a multicast forwarding role of the switch and filter one or more types of multicast control messages based on the multicast forwarding role. Here, the multicast control messages can be directed to the multicast entry.

Abstract: An example device for processing media data is configured to parse a bitstream including the media data, the bitstream being formatted according to Common Media Application Format (CMAF), detect, during the parsing, a file type (FTYP) value for a CMAF track file of the bitstream, determine that a CMAF header of the CMAF track file starts with the FTYP value, and process one or more CMAF fragments following the CMAF header of the CMAF track file. The device may additionally be configured to detect one or more segment type (STYP) values in the bitstream, determine that each of the one or more STYP values corresponds to a start of a respective one of the CMAF fragments, and process each of the CMAF fragments starting from the corresponding STYP value.
