    摘要: A tube supporting tie for transversely tying together two closely spaced parallel tubes having a near side and a far side. The tie comprises at least one right-hand S-shaped strap bridging the near side of the one tube and the far side of the other tube, and at least one left-hand S-shaped strap bridging the near side of the other tube and the far side of the one tube, whereby differential or transverse displacement of the tubes will primarily produce tensional stresses only. These straps are welded to the tubes. In order to minimize any mechanically induced bending stresses which may occur in the notch at the beginning of the side weld, the ends of the straps are wider than the middle portions, with these wider ends being the portions welded to the tubes.

    摘要: A large valve actuator assembly driven by an electrically conducting liquid enclosed in a hermetically sealed housing. The conducting liquid contained within the housing is circulated by electromagnetic forces without housing penetrations. The circular flow of the liquid impinges on a vane structure causing it to rotate. The vane structure''s rotation is mechanically translated from a rotary to a linear motion for valve stem actuation. The electromagnetic forces operate on principles of electromagnetic induction similar to those found in the operation of an electric motor. A circularly advancing magnetic field is imposed on the electrically conducting liquid. Magnetic coupling between the liquid and the advancing field cause the liquid to rotate and in so doing impart rotation to the vane structure.

    摘要: An adjustable gripping apparatus having two pairs of grippers. Each of the grippers of the first pair is slidably mounted for sliding movement along a laterally extending guide means. Each of the grippers of the second pair is mounted on an associated one of a pair of oppositely spaced gripper positioning members. The gripper positioning members are each rotatably supported to rotate about a pivot axis extending perpendicular to the lateral direction of the guide means. A pair of articulating linkage assemblies are provided, each of which is pin connected at one end to one of the first pair of grippers and fixedly connected at the other end to an associated one of the gripper positioning members. The joint of each articulating linkage assembly is offset from the pivot axis of its associated gripper positioning member so that rotation of the gripper positioning member causes sliding movement of the associated gripper of the first pair to change the gripping position thereof.

    摘要: A combined coolant storage tank and sump located within the containment structure which surrounds and isolates the nuclear reactor. The combined tank and sump provides a means for storing a supply of emergency coolant for use in cooling the nuclear core of the reactor in the event of a loss of coolant accident in the primary coolant circulating loop and also provides a means for accumulating any coolant fluid discharged into the containment atmosphere. Conduit means flow couple the combined tank and sump and the nuclear reactor, and drive means are provided for driving the emergency coolant from the combined tank and sump into the nuclear reactor in the event of an emergency requiring injection of the coolant into the nuclear reactor. Also the combined tank and sump provides a means for relieving the pressure in the secondary side of the heat exchanger and in the pressurizer.

In an alternative arrangement the compressible means takes the form of spaced coil spring members disposed between foam plastic blocks, the latter closing the openings at the ends of the channel member.

    摘要: The electrical power output of a nuclear powered generating station, as requested by an operator or by an automatic dispatch system for the grid with which the station is associated, is controlled in a manner which insures that the nuclear steam supply system limits are not violated. The invention permits the nuclear powered generating unit to operate at maximum permissible power for the existing nuclear steam supply system conditions by exercising control over the unit turbine in such a manner that the rate of load change will be controlled as a function of the proximity of the actual load to the desired load and the rate of load increase will be algebraically limited by the proximity of the nuclear steam supply system conditions to the steam supply system operating limits. Additionally the turbine load will automatically be reduced when necessary at a rate which equals or exceeds a value which is commensurate with the magnitude of any violation of the steam supply system operating limits.
