Abstract:
A Magnetic Resonance (MR) Radio-Frequency (RF) coil and method of manufacturing are provided for a multi-modality imaging system. The multi-modality imaging system includes a Magnetic Resonance (MR) scanner portion configured to acquired MR data of a patient using one or more MR Radio-Frequency (RF) coils. The one or more MR RF coils are formed from carbon nanotube conductors. The multi-modality imaging system also includes a radiation potion configured to transmit radiation through or detect radiation from the patient.
Abstract:
Radio-frequency (RF) traps and methods of common-mode energy damping are provided. One RF trap includes a body and a shutter holder rotatably coupled within the body, wherein the shutter holder is configured to rotate within the body about a longitudinal axis. The RF trap further including a magnetic flux shutter coupled to the shutter holder, wherein the magnetic flux shutter rotates within the body with the shutter holder to align the magnetic flux shutter at an angle within the body.

An inductor assembly includes a substrate having a first surface and an opposing second surface, a first spiral electrical conductor formed on the first surface, a second spiral electrical conductor formed on the second surface, at least one opening extending through the first and second surfaces, and a metallic pin configured to be inserted in the opening, the pin coupling the first conductor to the second conductor. An RF coil including the inductor assembly and a method of fabricating an inductor assembly are also described.

A dual-frequency coil array for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is provided. The coil array includes a first coil element having a pair of dual-frequency loop coils and a second coil element having a pair of dual-frequency loop coils. The coil array further includes at least one capacitive mesh configured to decouple the pairs of dual-frequency loop coils of the first and second coil elements.

Systems and methods for coil arrangements in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are provided. One arrangement includes a magnet bore, a radio-frequency (RF) transmit coil coupled to the magnet bore and at least one RF neck coil coupled to the magnet bore. The RF neck coil is movable within the magnet bore under and separate from a table within the magnet bore.

A radio frequency (RF) coil array includes a first coil section and a second coil section mechanically coupled to the first coil section. The first coil section includes a first row of a plurality of double asymmetric saddle coil pairs arranged in a left-right direction and a second row of a plurality of double asymmetric saddle coil pairs arranged in a left-right direction. The first row and the second row are arranged along a superior-inferior direction. The second coil section includes a plurality of loop coils arranged around at least a portion of a perimeter of the first coil section.

A balun assembly includes a body portion having an opening extending therethrough, the opening sized to receive at least one radio-frequency (RF) cable therethrough, the RF cable transmitting a signal therethrough a signal having a wavelength, and a balun disposed within the body portion, the balun being folded to form a plurality of layers, the combined length of the layers being approximately equal to a quarter wavelength of the signal transmitted through the RF cable. A method of fabricating a balun assembly and an MRI system including a balun are also provided.
