Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed to facilitate the reception, processing, outputting, and communication of content from one or more sources. Content is stored on a digital video recorder device and a content storage server. The digital video recorder device exchanges metadata with the content storage server that indicates the specific content stored on the digital video recorder device. A communication device may request access to the content stored on the content storage server. The content storage server determines if the communication device is associated with a digital video recorder device that is storing the requested content. If the communication device is associated with a digital video recorder device storing the requested content, the content storage server sends the requested content stored on the content storage server to the communication device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for delaying the display of a portion of audio and video broadcast signals received from a remote location. Received broadcast video and audio signals are placed in a first-in/first-out storage queue to enable the control of the playback of the signals. Signals may be placed in the tail of the queue while previously received signals are simultaneously routed from the head of the queue to a television monitor. Passing the signals through the queue creates the delay. The system may be controlled either by input to the receiver from the broadcast facility or by remote or manual control by the user. The control functions that are available to the user are pause, play, fast forward and replay. The control from the broadcast facility is through the ability to “mark” segments of the video and audio program to be immune to the fast forward function, thus guaranteeing that those segments are viewed by the user.
Abstract:
One embodiment described herein may take the form of a system or method for generating one or more matrix codes that may then be obtained by a reader device, the one or more matrix codes including information that may be utilized to aid in the installation and configuration of one or more components of a distribution system. In one embodiment, the one or more matrix codes may be utilized by the system to configure one or more aspects and features of a component of the system, such as a receiver or display device. In another embodiment, the one or matrix codes may provide system information to a provider or an installer to verify proper installation of one or more components. The information encoded in the matrix codes may include any type of information about one or more components of the distribution system to aid the system or an installer in configuring or installing components of the system.
