Abstract:
A two dimensional (2D) collimator assembly and a detector system employing a 2D collimator assembly. More specifically, a collimator assembly is provided, having elements extending in the x and z-planes of a detector system. The 2D collimator assembly includes a number of blades arranged in parallel. Each of the blades includes fins extending from one or both sides of the body of the blade. The fins are coupled to each adjacent array to form the 2D collimator assembly.
Abstract:
A focally aligned scintillator is constructed such that its scintillator walls are sloped so as to be angularly aligned with an x-ray source. The scintillator has a planar x-ray reception surface and a planar light emission surface, and a plurality of sidewalls connecting the planar x-ray reception surface and the planar light emission surface. The sidewalls extend non-perpendicularly between the planar x-ray reception surface and the planar light emission surface.
Abstract:
A galley including a galley body on a cabin floor for accommodating storage boxes, appliances and at least one service cart; storage boxes for storing goods, and a service cart. The galley body has a plurality of vertical levels that are substantially equidistant from each other, each of the vertical levels divided into a plurality of laterally adjacent compartments whose horizontal and vertical dimensions are equal to an integer multiple of the respective dimensions of a single one of the storage boxes. A transfer table is provided in front of the galley body for access to the compartments. A method includes catering for passengers on an aircraft.
Abstract:
One photodetection system includes a wide bandgap photodetector array which is physically and electrically integrated on a flexible interconnect layer including electrical connections, which is packaged in a manner for being electrically integrated with processing electronics such that the packaging and the processing electronics are configured for obtaining and processing signals detected by the photodetector array, or which includes both the flexible interconnect layer and processing electronics packaging features. Another photodetection system includes a wide bandgap focal plane array module including a photodetector pixel array, scan registers, a substrate supporting the array and the scan registers, and electrical interconnections coupling each pixel to at least two of the scan registers.
Abstract:
A technique for selectively attenuating a radiation exposure in which a configurable collimator is employed between the radiation source and the radiation target. The configurable collimator typically comprises an array of independently addressable elements each of which has at least a high and a low attenuation state, though intermediate states may also be accommodated. The elements of the array may be selectively addressed to determine their state and to determine the attenuation profile of the collimator. One embodiment of the technique employs an array of microactuated attenuating louvers which may be selectively actuated to determine their radiation transmittance. A second embodiment of the technique employs a suspension of attenuating nematic colloids which may be ordered by the application of an electric or magnetic field. The ordered state of the nematic colloids within an element determine the radiation transmittance of that element. A third embodiment of the technique employs microfluidics to fill an array of fluid chambers with an attenuating fluid. The level of filling within each chamber determines the attenuation produced by that array element.
