    摘要: A projection display comprising: a square column dichroic prism composed of four triangle prisms having equal refractive index together whose cross sections are right isosceles triangles such that three light valves are located adjacent to three exterior peripheral surfaces of dichroic prism to receive colored and modulated light beams therefrom and; a filter for absorbing light with a specified wavelength range, leaked from surface of dichroic prism at the opposite side of incident light surface and directed to liquid crystal light valve, the filter being located between liquid crystal light valves and surface of dichroic prism. As for construction of the dichroic prism itself, specifically, of the four aforementioned triangular prisms, the first triangular prism and the aforementioned third triangular prism are mutually affixed in a condition in which there is a first step difference in the vertical direction. The first exposed side is formed on one edge of the affixed side of the first triangular prism. Similarly, the second triangular prism and the fourth triangular prism are attached to each other such that there is a second step difference on the same edge, and a second exposed side is formed on one edge of the affixed surface of the second triangular prism. Further, the first and the third triangular prisms and the second and the fourth triangular prisms are attached, with a step difference between them, in such a way that the aforementioned first exposed side and the aforementioned second exposed side are located on the edges facing the same direction; and a third exposed surface that is orthogonal to the aforementioned first and second exposed surfaces is formed between the aforementioned first triangular prism and the aforementioned second triangular prism.

The image correction section corrects levels of given image data in accordance with the correction data stored in the data storage device. The image forming section is provided with a plurality of pixels each transmitting image-forming light responsive to corrected image data supplied from the image correction section, and the image-forming light reproduces a displayed image. The correction data are determined by obtaining data-correction values based on input-output characteristics of the image forming section. The data-correction values represent correction amounts of the image data needed to bring, closer to a predetermined reference level, the output levels of light at a plural locations of a displayed image which is displayed responsive to uniform image data representing a specific uniform image.

    摘要: To provide an image display apparatus in which, even if pixel data is phase-expanded, the influence of differences in circuit characteristic can be dispersed between frames. The apparatus has a phase expansion circuit 380 to which are input a first video signal A1 having pixel data for driving pixels with positive voltages and a second video signal A2 having pixel data for driving pixels with negative voltages. The phase expansion circuit 380 forms six phase-expanded signals V1 to V6 from the first and second video signals A1 and A2. The phase-expanded signals are expanded into pixel data by extending the data length of items of the pixel data corresponding to some of the pixels periodically selected. The phase expansion circuit 380 outputs the phase-expanded signals to phase-expanded signal output lines in parallel with each other. The apparatus also has a connection change circuit 390 for changing connections between six phase-expanded signal output lines 388a to 388f and six signal supply lines 132a to 132f. Change of the order of expansion into six phase-expanded signals V1 to V6 by the phase expansion means and change of the combination of connections changed by the connection change circuit 390 while being linked to the expansion order are controlled by a timing generation circuit block 200. This timing generation circuit block 220 performs change control so that a expansion order first set with respect to the preceding frame is changed to a different expansion order in synchronization with vertical synchronization.
