Abstract: An automatic dishwasher and a method for controlling the operation of the automatic dishwasher including an imaging device that repeatedly captures images of a sub-portion of a wash chamber as a dish rack is moved from a load position to a use position. The repeated capturing of images is synchronized with the movement of the dish rack, and areas of the dish rack in which dishes are present are determined from the repeatedly captured images.
