摘要： An approach is provided for managing processing rules used to process electronic data in computer networks. An application provides the capability for users to define and manage classifications for electronic data. The application also provides the capability for users to define and manage processing rules for each classification. This may include specifying, for each processing rule, a classification to which the processing rule corresponds, one or more conditions under which the processing rule is to be applied and optionally, not applied, a priority for the processing rule, and one or more actions to be performed. The priority may be used to determine which rule is to be applied when more than one rule corresponds to a classification. The application supports the definition and management of classifications and rules on a logical group-by-logical group basis.

摘要： An approach is provided for retrieving electronic documents. The approach provides a Web-based graphical user interface that allows users to construct complex queries that include Boolean clauses, proximity clauses and/or keyword phrases, without requiring the users to have a working knowledge of query languages. The Web-based graphical user interface also allows users to specify a semantic meaning for one or more search terms. The approach also allows users to generate various reports for search results. Various filters may be applied to manage the amount of reporting data and semantic meanings may be applied to increase relevancy. A time cost estimator provides an estimated review time for search results. Also included are approaches for using the results of simple searches to perform advanced searches, for estimating the cost and/or time for reviewing search results and for performing tagging analysis and for using logical custodians.

The distributed scan management service is configured to receive information for post scan processing instructions. The scanning device also includes a scan service configured to scan a document and generate scan data based on the document scan. A request, from a first user, to issue an alert to a second user that may have submitted a print request to the printing device is received at the printing device. The printing device may be attempting to process the print request submitted by the second user when the printing device receives the request from the first user. The first user may not know the identity of the second user. The printing device consults contact data that identifies how to contact the second user. The printing device thereafter issues the alert to the second user in accordance with the contact data. Upon receiving the alert, the second user is informed of the current condition of the printing device, e.g., the printing device may be experiencing a problem that prevents the second user's print request from being fully processed.

摘要： A print manager of a printing device is configured to retrieve a plurality of print options and features to be used to process a particular print job on the printing device, and to determine whether a resource conservation mode is specified for the printing device. In response to determining that the resource conservation mode is specified for the printing device, the print manager identifies, from the plurality of print options, one or more particular print options that are associated with the resource conservation mode, and generates a modified plurality of print options and features by changing a feature for each of the one or more particular print options to implement the resource conservation mode. In the resource conservation mode, the modified plurality of print options and features is used to process the particular print job to reduce an amount of consumable resources used to process the particular print job.

According to a first aspect of the present invention, a computer-based method for organizing digital photos comprises: extracting objects of interest from a plurality of photographs; cropping said plurality of photographs to generate images of isolated objects of interest; applying a recognition algorithm to determine the similarity of isolated objects of interest with a reference; displaying a plurality of objects arranged as a function of the determined similarity; and receiving user input to associate said objects with a particular classification.

摘要： The systems and method herein provide a design logic that extends Distributed Scan Management (DSM) by integrating the scan setting features of a network scanner with DSM and enhances DSM by providing a means for quickly locating Post Scan Processes (PSP) based on specified search criteria. In this regard, a network scanner is controllable via the PSPs of a DSM protocol. A user interface of the network scanner is operable to receive login information associated with a user that is used to grant access to one or more of the PSPs. The network scanner also includes a storage module operable to store scanner software instructions that direct a processor to determine whether the one or more accessed PSPs have settings that are overrideable and present the one or more accessed PSPs to the user for selection. The user may then override settings of a selected PSP via the user interface.

A service agent executes on a node that is separate from the plurality of WS-enabled devices. The service agent receives an event notification message from a particular device of the plurality of WS-enabled devices. The event notification message indicates an event that occurred on the particular device. In response to receiving the event notification message, the service agent examines a mapping table that maps event types to one or more devices that are to be notified when the corresponding event occurs. The service agent then sends a message about the event to each of the one or more devices.
