摘要: A system for assessing a computer device's state may collect state data about the device, then assess the state with respect to the policy for granting one or more claims. Each claim may be defined by a set of requirements that, if fulfilled, may be used to permit or deny access to a resource, such as an application, network, data, or other resource. A collection engine may reside on the device or other location and may collect requested data, and some collection engines may be extensible with a plugin architecture for expansion. A server may receive information from the device to evaluate claims. Depending on the use scenario, the claim results may be incorporated into communications and passed to an evaluator that may produce an access token which is used to permit or deny access based on the claim results.

摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for automatically creating printed works. A subset of electronic publications from a collection of electronic publications is periodically selected in at least one computing system. The selecting is directed at least in part by at least one rule predefined by a user. The subset of electronic publications includes at least two distinct electronic publications. A printed work that includes the subset of electronic publications is encoded for printing.

摘要: A facility for generating printed works containing customized or personalized content is described. The facility may electronically provide users with access to information about a collection of content that is available for incorporation into the printed works. The facility may receive content selection instructions from the user for selecting items of content from the collection of content to generate a customized or personalized printed work. In some cases, the instructions may facilitate an automatic content selection process to generate a personalized printed work. Based on the instructions, the facility may select and retrieve the desired items of content and then aggregate them into an electronic document. Prior to generating the customized or personalized printed work, the facility may reformat the items of content within the electronic document based on user formatting instructions. The facility may then arrange for delivery of the printed work to the user.

摘要: A method and apparatus for organizing information in a computer filing system. The method and apparatus include the creation of a pile comprising a collection of documents and displaying a graphical representation of the collection of documents. The method and apparatus further include browsing the collection of documents by pointing a cursor at a particular item in the collection of documents to reveal an indicia for the particular item in the collection of documents. The filing system can automatically divide a pile (e.g. a collection of documents from an electronic mail network) into subpiles on the basis of the content of each document in the pile, and the filing system, at the users request can automatically file away documents into existing piles in the computer system on the basis of a similarity match between the content (or other internal representation) of the document and the content (or other internal representation) of existing piles in the computer system. The filing system can also create a pile from a sample document by using the internal representation of the document as the internal representation of the new pile. The computer filing system provides various interfaces in connection with piles to the user of the system to provide feedback and other information to the user, including information concerning the documents and piles in the computer's filing system.

摘要: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for using community annotations to content items as anchortext for search and index purposes. The method according to one embodiment comprises generating one or more items of personalized information by a user for storage in a user profile, the one or more items of personalized information associated with one or more content items, the one or more content items and the one or more items of personalized information comprising one or more words. One or more items of personalized information is selected from a given user profile. The method further comprises indexing the one or more words in the one or more content items and the one or more words in the selected personalized information into an index, identifying one or more content items responsive to on or more query words in a query of the index and returning the identified content items as a result set to the user.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide a trusted intermediary for use in a system in which access control decisions may be based at least in part on information provided in claims. The intermediary may request claims on behalf of a network resource to which access is requested, and submit the claims for a decision whether to grant or deny access. The decision may be based at least in part on one or more access control policies, which may be pre-set or dynamically generated. Because the intermediary requests the claims and submits the claims for an access control decision, the network resource (e.g., a server application) need not be configured to process claims information.
