摘要: A cargo or bulk product off-load system includes a compressor (10) that pressurizes air. The air is dried by a dryer (12, 14) and routed to a supply tank (16). From the supply tank, the air is either used to pressurize service reservoirs (24, 26) or to assist the off-load system. Air stored in the service reservoirs (24, 26) is used to pressurize purge volumes associated with the dryers (12, 14). The compressor (10) operates at a lower pressure when supplying air to assist the off-load system than when pressurizing the service reservoirs (24, 26). Controllers (30, 40) coordinate switching of airflow, and alternating purging and drying of the dryers.

摘要: An apparatus for removing oil from air in an air compressor that has a piston reciprocable in a cylinder to compress the air, includes an oil removal chamber associated with the compressor. An unloader valve has an unactuated condition and an actuated condition disabling flow of compressed air out of the compressor and establishing fluid communication between the cylinder and the oil removal chamber. The apparatus may include an oil discharge port for draining oil from the oil removal chamber to a location away from the cylinder, and/or a filter element in the oil removal chamber.

摘要: An emergency brake backup system is achieved by selectively interconnecting the air suspension as an additional reservoir to the air brake system. That is, if the charging system or primary reservoir fails, compressed air in the air spring reservoirs is used as an energy source to supply the pressurized air required for brake function. This can be achieved with minor modification to existing tractor and trailer brake systems that employ air suspension assemblies.

摘要: An air dryer and reservoir assembly for providing compressed air from an air compressor (20) on a heavy motor vehicle which includes an air dryer (14) connected to receive compressed air from the air compressor (20) and a secondary reservoir (12) for storing compressed air which passes through the air dryer (14), with the air dryer (14) and the secondary reservoir (12) being securely attached to a housing (16) to form an air dryer reservoir module (10). A primary reservoir (18) for storing compressed air from the air dryer (14) is located remote from the air dryer reservoir module (10). Components located within the housing (16) control air flow between the air dryer (14) and the primary and secondary reservoirs (18,12) and also monitor the pneumatic brake system circuits fed by the primary and secondary reservoirs (18,12). In the event of a failure of either of the pneumatic brake system circuits speed of the vehicle is limited.

摘要: A quick release valve for a vehicle fluid pressure braking system includes a housing having inlet, exhaust and delivery ports. A bead circumscribes the inlet port to provide a valve seating area for a flexible diaphragm within the valve housing, and the exhaust port includes a projecting portion which preloads the flexible diaphragm into engagement with the bead circumscribing the inlet port. Accordingly, pressure variations between the ports cannot force the flexible diaphragm to vibrate to create an undesirable honking noise. Furthermore, the circumferentially extending bead assures a pressure-tight seal with the flexible diaphragm, and also establishes a predetermined sealing area for the diaphragm, thereby reducing valve hysteresis by preventing sealing of the diaphragm at varying areas on the housing.
