For example, methods may include receiving a field of view selection; oversampling, using an image sensor, to obtain an image at a capture resolution that is greater than an encode resolution; determining a crop setting based on the field of view selection; cropping the image using the crop setting to obtain a cropped image; down-scaling the cropped image to obtain a scaled image at the encode resolution; encoding the scaled image at the encode resolution; and storing, displaying, or transmitting an output image based on the scaled image.

Abstract: A method for a zero shutter-lag (ZSL) mode of an image capture device includes, in response to detecting a first event indicative of the ZSL mode, setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode. Setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode includes setting a sensor of the image capture device to a first resolution that is higher than a second resolution of a non-ZSL mode, and setting a timer to expire after a predefined period. The method also includes, in response to the timer expiring after the predefined period, setting the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode. The non-ZSL mode cancels the ZSL mode.

Abstract: An image capture device includes a processor that is configured to set the image capture device to a zero-shutter-lag (ZSL) mode in response to a capture of a first image; start a timer; restart the timer when a second image is captured while the timer is active; and, in response to detecting an event indicating that no image was captured before the timer expired, set the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode. The processor is configured to set the image capture device to a non-ZSL mode when the timer expires.

The aware state may include enabling low power sensors or entering the image capture into an event mode. A content capture opportunity is automatically determined from the captured aware state data. The aware state data may be image information and a classifier classifies the image information. The aware state data may be position data for the image capture device and when the image capture device is in a capture position, the image capture device may instantly capture image information. An image capture device mode is automatically selected for the content capture opportunity and content is automatically captured with the selected image capture device mode.
