A slip ring assembly for use in a rotational camera. The camera has a rotating plate portion and a stationary base. The assembly comprises a housing, the housing having a body with a longitudinal axis, a top end and a bottom end. The top end of the housing includes an inner cylinder protruding therethrough, and upon the cylinder, a plurality of connectors rotationally coupled to the rotating portion of the camera. The second end of the housing is affixed to the stationary portion of the camera. The top end and the bottom end of the housing rotate with respect each other. The slip ring assembly acts as a connector, joining the rotational and the stationary portions of the rotational camera. The present invention minimizes component wear in the camera's stationary base since the end of the assembly in the stationary portion and all of the wires and electrical components coupled to it remain stationary during rotation of the camera. By eliminating the rotation of electrical components and wiring, less component wear occurs and the wiring is less likely to become tangled within the camera's stationary portion during rotation of the upper, rotating portion of the camera.

The present invention is a camera mounting structure that is made using a minimal number of parts that are attached together without the use of hardware or fasteners. One or more motors are each mounted to a support bracket using locking tabs, boss registers, clips and/or tension members. Pins or registers on each motor correspond to openings or slots on each support bracket for precise positioning of the motor when attached to the bracket. Each motor support bracket is, in turn, attached to a rotatable ring that moves in a base without the use of hardware or fasteners. Motors and brackets are provided for the pan and tilt movements of the camera. The rotatable ring is journaled directly to the based using an annular channel in the base to further minimize the number of parts making up the mounting assembly, allowing for easy assembly, disassembly, service and repair.

A camera mount (10) for a surveillance camera provides for adjusting the tilt of the surveillance camera (48) relative to the mounting surface for the camera mount inside an environmental camera enclosure or housing (44). The camera mount (10) includes a base plate (12) that is linearly adjustably attached to a mounting surface inside the environmental camera enclosure. A camera tilt table (16) is pivotally attached to the camera mount base plate (12) in a manner to permit the camera tilt table to pivot relative to the base plate in order to tilt the camera to vary the viewing angle of the camera relative to the mounting surface on which the environmental camera enclosure is mounted. The camera tilt table (16) includes an adjustment mechanism (26, 34) for permitting the camera installer to adjust the tilt or angle of the camera tilt table, and therefore the viewing angle of the surveillance camera, relative to the mounting surface on which the environmental camera enclosure is mounted. The camera tilt table adjusting mechanism also serves as the locking mechanism for locking the adjustment of the camera tilt table at essentially any desired viewing angle relative to the plane of the mounting surface on which the environmental camera enclosure is mounted. The camera mount base plate (12) is adjustably attached to a mounting surface on the inside of the environmental camera enclosure (44) in a manner to adjust the camera (48) so that its viewing lens can be positioned close to or remote from the camera environmental housing viewing window (62). The mounting surface for the environmental enclosure can be any number of locations, typically horizontal or inclined ceilings, or vertical walls.

A dual-purpose mounting structure and enclosure for a surface mounted surveillance camera system used alternatively to mount a camera system including back box directly onto a surface, or to mount the camera system such that the back box is recessed behind the surface. The enclosure and mount includes a back box having a flush flange assembly and a detachable surface mountable adaptor. For a surface mount, the adaptor is attached directly to the flush flange for mounting the enclosure onto a planar surface such as below a ceiling line. For a recessed mount, an opening is provided in the planar surface, the adaptor is inverted and placed around this opening on the opposite side of the planar surface, the back box is inserted through the opening and into the adaptor, and the adaptor is attached to the back box assembly.
