摘要： In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a novel class of heterocyclic compounds. Compounds of the invention contain a substituted, unsaturated five, six or seven membered heterocyclic ring that includes at least one nitrogen atom and at least one carbon atom. The ring additionally includes three, four or five atoms independently selected from carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen atoms. The heterocyclic ring has at least one substituent located at a ring position adjacent to a ring nitrogen atom. This mandatory substituent of the ring includes a moiety (B), linked to the heterocyclic ring via a carbon-carbon double bond, a carbon-carbon triple bond or an azo group. The mandatory substituent is positioned adjacent to the ring nitrogen atom. Invention compounds are capable of a wide variety of uses. For example heterocyclic compounds can act to modulate physiological processes by functioning as agonists and antagonists of receptors in the nervous system. Invention compounds may also act as insecticides, and as fungicides. Pharmaceutical compositions containing invention compounds also have wide utility.

摘要： A soil protection device for inhibiting access to soil surrounding a potted plant includes a cover member having first and second portions pivotally coupled together for relative movement between open and closed configurations. The cover member defines a stem hold through which a potted plant stem may extend. The cover member may be opened for positioning the stem hole around a plant stem and then closed to secure the device upon the soil. The cover member defines a plurality of apertures through which water may pass for watering a plant. The cover member further defines a plurality of perforations arranged concentrically about the stem hole for establishing expansion sections. A perforated line of weakness may be selectively severed for effectively enlarging the stem hole.

摘要： Two rigid surfaces are joined by a hinge to form a cover for a building ridge vent formed at the apex of a pitched roof. The hinge lies along the building ridge vent with the two rigid surfaces extending down each side of the pitched roof. The rigid surfaces of the cover affixed to the roof using standard roofing fasteners provide a rigid stable mounting surface for heavy loose laid roofing shingles.
