Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for encoding an audio signal to efficiently encode a harmonic envelope and a method and apparatus for decoding an audio signal to decode the harmonic envelope. The method of encoding an audio signal includes performing harmonic analysis with respect to an input signal to determine harmonic parameters with respect to harmonic signals; regarding amplitudes of the harmonic signals included in the harmonic parameters as signals in the time domain so as to perform time-frequency transformation; and encoding the time-frequency transformed values. When expressing a harmonic envelope, the amplitudes of the harmonic signals are regarded as signals in the time domain so as to perform a time-frequency transformation and only a part from among the transformed values is selected to be encoded. Therefore, sound quality is not affected and coding efficiency greatly improves.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding stereo audio. In the method for encoding stereo audio, stereo audio is encoded based on at least one of the phase difference between first and second channel audios and information on an angle made by a vector on the intensity of mono-audio and a vector on the intensity of the first channel audio or a vector on the intensity of the second channel audio. Thus, the number of encoded parameters is minimized so that a compression ratio in the encoding of the stereo audio is improved.
Abstract:
Encoding and decoding of residual signals are provided. In a method of encoding a residual signal of an audio signal, the residual signal is divided into a plurality of sections having different sizes, based on a change of the residual signal. Then, section division information representing information about the divided sections and section-by-section residual signal information representing characteristics of the sections of the residual signal are acquired. Thereafter, the residual signal is encoded based on the section division information and the section-by-section residual signal information.
Abstract:
A method of and apparatus for parametric encoding and parametric decoding are provided. According to the method and apparatus, not all parameters for all component signals are generated and according to a time interval, parameters for some component signals are replaced by index information allowing similar previous time intervals to be found, thereby increasing encoding efficiency.
Abstract:
Provided are an encoding method and apparatus for efficiently encoding a sinusoidal signal whose magnitude is less than a masking value according to a psychoacoustic model, a decoding method and apparatus for decoding an encoded sinusoidal signal, and a computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon a program for executing the encoding method/the decoding method. By using a particular code indicating that the magnitude of a first sinusoidal signal is less than a masking value according to a psychoacoustic model to encode the first sinusoidal signal, difference coding for a third sinusoidal signal of a next frame, which is connected to the first sinusoidal signal, is performed using a sinusoidal signal or sinusoidal signals selected according to a method to use the particular code, and a decoding apparatus obtains a sum with a transmitted difference using the selected sinusoidal signal(s).
Abstract:
An actuator latch system of a hard disk drive (HDD) retains a rotatable swing arm of the HDD in place when a magnetic head of the HDD is parked. The actuator latch system includes a portion of the swing arm that defines a notch at an end portion of a swing arm, and a latch lever that has first and second hooks at one end thereof. The latch lever is disposed on the base member adjacent the end portion of the swing arm and is supported so as to be rotatable. The first hook is disposed to contact the swing arm within a short period of time after a shock transmitted to the swing arm while the magnetic head is parked causes the swing arm to rotate in one direction. Thus, the impulse on the swing arm is minimized and the reliability of the actuator latch system is enhanced.

A hybrid diffusion plate includes a plurality of sub diffusion plates facing one another and diffusing light, heat-insulating layers having heat conductivity lower than the sub diffusion plates and respectively interposed between each pair of adjacent sub diffusion plates, and a sealant applied between each pair of adjacent sub diffusion plates along an edge and bonding the sub diffusion plates to each other.
Abstract:
Provided are a diffusion plate assembly having light diffusion and heat blocking effects and requiring no diffusion plate supporter and a backlight assembly including the diffusion plate assembly. The diffusion plate assembly includes a first plate diffusing light; a second plate disposed to face a surface of the first plate and blocking heat transfer toward the first plate and a spacer interposed between the first plate and the second plate and separating the first plate and the second plate.
Abstract:
A method of encoding stereo audio that minimizes a number of pieces of side information required for parametric-encoding and parametric-decoding of the stereo audio. The side information may include parameters about interchannel intensity difference (IID), interchannel correlation (IC), overall phase difference (OPD), and interchannel phase difference (IPD), which are required to restore the mono audio to the stereo audio.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus which encode multi-channel audio signals and a method and apparatus which decode multi-channel audio signals. When encoding, a downmixed audio signal, first additional information for restoring multi-channel audio signals from the downmixed audio signal, and second additional information representing characteristics of a residual signal are multiplexed. When decoding, restored multi-channel audio signals having a predetermined phase difference are combined using the second additional information, and an audio signal of each channel is corrected, in order to improve quality of the restored audio signals.
