Abstract: A sheet conveyance device including: a conveyance roller that conveys a sheet; a motor that rotationally drives the conveyance roller at a constant speed; a central processing unit (CPU) that: periodically acquires temperature increase rates for the motor from a start of sheet conveyance, the temperature increase rates depending on magnitudes of effective current applied to the motor, the effective current depending on loads during sheet conveyance; and estimates a current temperature of the motor based on a cumulative value calculated from the temperature increase rates and time elapsed from the start of sheet conveyance; and a controller that executes a motor temperature control based on the estimated temperature of the motor.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor, a charging unit, an exposing unit, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a lubricant supply unit, a cleaning unit and a lubricant removal unit. The lubricant supply unit supplies a lubricant to a surface of the photoreceptor and is disposed at a point which is an upstream side of the cleaning unit and a downstream side of the developing unit in a rotation direction of the photoreceptor. The lubricant removal unit removes the lubricant from the surface of the photoreceptor and is disposed at a point which is the downstream side of the cleaning unit and the upstream side of the developing unit in the rotation direction of the photoreceptor.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus drives and rotates at least one of a photosensitive drum and a transport roller with use of a stepping motor in a multi-phase excitation mode. The image forming apparatus includes: a constant-voltage control unit controlling the stepping motor by applying a constant voltage for each phase; a constant-current control unit controlling the stepping motor by regulating an amount of current for each phase by a chopping control; a measuring unit measuring a chopping count of each phase on a per-step basis; a chopping count determination unit determining whether the chopping count of each phase is less than or equal to a predetermined count; and a control switching unit causing the constant-voltage control unit to control the stepping motor when the chopping count determination unit determines affirmatively, and causing the constant-current control unit to control the stepping motor when the chopping count determination unit determines negatively.

Abstract: A stapling apparatus includes a sheet insertion portion that receives insertion of a sheet bundle, a stapler that staples the sheet bundle, a drive apparatus that drives the stapler, and a controller that controls the drive apparatus. The controller has the drive apparatus driven with first electric power when the drive apparatus operates in an on-line stapling mode in which the sheet bundle ejected from an image forming apparatus is stapled and has the drive apparatus driven with second electric power lower than maximum electric power that can be set as first electric power when the drive apparatus operates in a manual stapling mode in which the sheet bundle inserted through the sheet insertion portion is stapled.
