摘要: In a plasma display panel, a sustain discharge pulse voltage is applied to the scan or sustain electrodes while the address electrode is biased with a ground voltage, and a negative assistant pulse voltage is applied to an electrode that is not receiving the sustain discharge pulse. At least a part of a period for applying the negative assistant pulse is positioned prior to a period of applying the sustain discharge pulse. Discharge efficiency can be improved by applying the negative assistant voltage to the sustain electrode when the sustain discharge is applied to the scan electrode across a long discharge gap.

摘要: A driving method of a plasma display panel, the plasma display panel including a plurality of first electrodes and a plurality of second electrodes, and a plurality of third electrodes which lie in a direction perpendicular to that of the first electrodes and the second electrodes. The second electrode is biased at a first voltage during the reset period, the address period, and the sustain period. A voltage of the first electrode is increased from a second voltage to a third voltage. The voltage of the first electrode is decreased from a fourth voltage to a fifth voltage during the reset period. The fifth voltage is lower than the lower voltage among the voltages that are applied for a sustain discharge in the sustain period.

摘要: A driving method of a plasma display panel including a plurality of first electrodes, a plurality of second electrodes, and a plurality of third electrodes formed in a direction to be intersected with the first electrodes and the second electrodes is disclosed. The method includes resetting the electrodes by applying a waveform having a predetermined voltage to the first electrode, applying a fourth voltage to the second electrodes for a predetermined period; selecting cells to be discharged by applying a scan pulse voltage to each of the first electrodes and the third electrodes; and alternately applying a plurality of sustain discharge pulses having a first voltage as peak value to each of the first electrodes and the second electrodes, wherein the step of applying the fourth voltage Ve stops the application of the fourth voltage Ve while the first sustain discharge pulse of the first electrodes continues.

摘要: A plasma display device and a driving method thereof. In a plasma display panel having an opening or a groove between a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, a driving waveform is applied to the scan electrode and an address electrode while the sustain electrode is biased at a predetermined voltage. Then, since a discharge path is formed through the opening or the groove between the scan and sustain electrodes, a discharge firing voltage may be reduced and misfiring prevented in a sustain period.

摘要: A plasma display device and a driving method. A driving waveform is applied while sustain electrodes are biased at a predetermined voltage. During an address period of a predetermined first subfield, a first scan pulse of a first voltage is applied to perform write addressing at a discharge cell to be selected at the first subfield, and during an address period of a predetermined second subfield, a second scan pulse having a second voltage that is greater than the first voltage is applied to perform erase addressing at a discharge cell that is not to be selected at the first subfield. A width of the second scan pulse is set to be less than that of the first scan pulse. Accordingly, a separate board for driving the sustain electrode may not be required and the address period can be shortened for a faster address operation.
