Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a hair styling composition and methods of using the composition, wherein the composition comprises: (a) an aqueous dispersion containing: (i) at least one solid wax particle having a particle size ranging from equal to or greater than 1 micron to about 100 microns and comprising at least one wax having a melting point of greater than 35° C.; (ii) a surfactant mixture comprising at least one nonionic surfactant and at least one ionic surfactant; and (iii) water; and (b) at least one cosmetically acceptable carrier.
Abstract:
Disclosed are hair styling compositions comprising: (a) one or more latex polymers selected from acrylate latex polymers, polyurethane latex polymers, and mixtures thereof; and (b) a wax dispersion comprising: (i) particles having a volume-basis particle size distribution with peaks in the range of equal to or greater than 1 μm up to about 100 μm wherein the particles comprise at least one wax having a melting point of greater than 35° C.; (ii) a surfactant mixture comprising a nonionic surfactant and an ionic surfactant; (iii) an oil gellant; and (iv) water.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions comprising one or more latex polymers selected from acrylate latex, polyurethane latex polymers, and mixtures thereof, a dispersion of particles of at least one silicone latex polymer; and optionally, a solvent. Methods of using the compositions on keratinous substrates such as hair are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Compositions including polycarbodiimide and derivatives thereof together with latex polymers and derivatives thereof to enhance the quality of the keratinous substrates. The present invention relates to a cosmetic treatment and process for treating keratinous materials, in particular for hair-care and hair-styling. A method of styling or shaping hair is also disclosed. Compositions are provided for nail treatment and processes including polycarbodiimide and latex actives for application in a nail treatment that is a single step or at least two sequential steps, the compositions and processes providing one or more of improved adhesion, water resistance, and shine through crosslinking between the actives, thereby imparting long wear, good shine, nail protection, and easy removal.
Abstract:
Compositions including polycarbodiimide together with a cationic polymer to enhance the quality of the keratinous substrates. Treatment compositions and processes related thereto for treating keratinous materials, in particular for hair-styling, where, according to the process, the polycarbodiimide and cationic polymer actives may be applied in a treatment that is a single step emulsion or at least two sequential steps. The composition a combined amount of the polycarbodiimide and the cationic polymer in amounts sufficient to impart hydrophobicity to keratinous substrates, including hair fibers, upon application thereto. It is in particular a hair treatment composition and process for providing improved shaping performance and shape memory for durable non-permanent shaping, straightening, and curling of the hair, particularly under conditions of one or more of high heat and high humidity by stiffening the hair through crosslinking, thereby retaining the style properties of the hair.

Treatment compositions and processes related thereto for treating keratinous materials, in particular for hair-styling, where, according to the process, the polycarbodiimide and cationic polymer actives may be applied in a treatment that is a single step emulsion or at least two sequential steps. The composition includes 2.0 to 4.0%, by weight, of the composition of a combined amount of the polycarbodiimide and the cationic polymer in amounts sufficient to impart hydrophobicity to keratinous substrates, including hair fibers, upon application thereto.
Abstract:
Compositions including polycarbodiimide and derivatives thereof together with amino compounds and derivatives thereof chosen from alkyl monoamines, alkoxylated polyamines, alkoxylated monoamines, polyamines, and mixtures thereof to enhance the quality of the keratinous substrates. The present invention relates to a cosmetic treatment and process for treating keratinous materials, in particular for hair-care and hair-styling, wherein the composition can include the polycarbodiimide and the amino compound in amounts sufficient to impart one or more of increased hydrophobicity to the keratinous substrates, including hair, and increased hold to the shape or configuration of the keratinous substrate, upon application thereto. It is in particular a hair treatment composition and process for enhancing durable non-permanent shaping and curling of the hair.
Abstract:
Disclosed are oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions comprising (a) an aqueous dispersion of particles of at least one latex chosen from an acrylate latex, a polyurethane latex, or a silicone latex, and (b) an oil phase, wherein the aqueous dispersion of particles of at least one latex is present in the O/W emulsion in an amount sufficient to stabilize the O/W emulsion. The disclosure also relates to hair styling and/or shaping compositions comprising the O/W emulsions, methods of making the compositions, and methods of styling and/or shaping the hair.
