Abstract: A hydrogen system includes: a water electrolysis apparatus including a water electrolysis cell; an electrochemical hydrogen pump that increases the pressure of hydrogen-containing gas produced by the water electrolysis apparatus; a gas flow path that supplies the hydrogen-containing gas produced by the water electrolysis apparatus to the electrochemical hydrogen pump; and a first flow path through which a first heat medium that is a liquid and has collected waste heat of the water electrolysis cell flows. The electrochemical hydrogen pump is capable of performing heat exchange with the first heat medium having collected waste heat of the water electrolysis cell.

Abstract: An electrochemical apparatus includes: a reformer that produces a first hydrogen-containing gas by reforming a raw material; a combustor that heats the reformer; an electrochemical device that includes an anode and a cathode, the electrochemical device operating by using the first hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode; a first flow rate controller that controls a flow rate of the first hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode and a flow rate of a second hydrogen-containing gas supplied from a supply source, the second hydrogen-containing gas being different from the first hydrogen-containing gas; a second flow rate controller that controls a flow rate at which an anode-off gas exhausted from the anode is recycled to the anode and a flow rate at which the anode-off gas is supplied to the combustor; and a controller that controls the first flow rate controller and the second flow rate controller.

Abstract: A membrane catalyst layer assembly includes: a PEM; and a pair of catalyst layers disposed on main surfaces of the PEM. One of the pair of catalyst layers contains: mesoporous carbon with an average particle size of 100 nm or more, the mesoporous carbon having mesopores with a mode radius of 1-25 nm and a pore volume of 1.0-3.0 cm3/g; a catalytic metal; a proton-conducting resin; and at least one type of carbon particles with a smaller average particle size than the mesoporous carbon. The one of the pair of catalyst layers has a first surface layer which is adjacent to the PEM and contains the mesoporous carbon, and a second surface layer which is opposite the PEM and contains the mesoporous carbon, a volume percentage of the mesoporous carbon in the second surface layer is lower than a volume percentage of the mesoporous carbon in the first surface layer.
