The brake pressure transducer (1) is equipped with one or more path sensors (5), for the direct or indirect determination of the pedal path (S). Interdependent with the current driving conditions, the brake situation and the pedal path (S), the anti-lock control is switched from a standard control mode into a safety control mode, which essentially permits only a brake pressure increase in the front wheels and a brake pressure decrease in the rear wheels during an anti-lock control procedure. A limit value (SpGrenz) of the pedal advancement is determined interdependent with the driving conditions and the brake situation, and upon exceeding such a switch over takes place into the safety control mode.

Further disclosed is a pulsation damping module for housing a plurality of pulsation damping capsules.

The hydraulic actuation device can be actuated by means of a brake pedal and has a main brake cylinder to which wheel brakes are connected, at least two brake circuits, a simulation device, which comprises at least one elastic element and gives the vehicle driver a comfortable pedal feeling, an electrically controllable pressure-providing device, which is formed by a cylinder/piston assembly, the piston of which can be actuated by an electromagnetic actuator, wherein the first measurement variable (PDBE) characterizing a position of the piston is detected. The detected measurement value of the first and second measurement variable (SDBE, PDBE) are compared to a predetermined characteristic map of the first and second measurement variables in order to monitor a functional status of the brake system.

A hydraulic vehicle brake system and method of operating same. The system includes an electrohydraulic wheel brake pressure modulation unit, a master brake cylinder (11) which has a pressure medium storage reservoir (12) for hydraulic brake fluid and which can be actuated by means of a brake pedal (9) and to which first and second brake circuits (I, II) are connected. Wheel brakes (3, 4, 5, 6) are connected to the first and second brake circuits (I, II). Each of the first and second brake circuits have a pair of inlets valves (14a-d, 114a-b) and a pair of outlet valves (15a-d, 115a-b) connected to the wheel brakes (3, 4, 5, 6). The outlets of the outlet valves (15a-d, 115a-b) of each of the first and second brake circuits (I, II) are connected to one another by means of jointly used hydraulic line sections (16a, 16b). A safety valve (17a, 117a; 17b, 117b) is provided by means of which an outflow of brake fluid medium out of the line section (16a, 16b) via an outlet port of the safety valves (17a, 117a; 17b, 117b) can be monitored as a means of checking the leak-tightness of the outlet valve and the safety valve.
