Abstract: The disclosure relates to a fifth generation (5G) or sixth generation (6G) communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates. The disclosure provides an operation and an apparatus for controlling an amplifying gain of a network-controlled repeater (NCR). A method of the NCR repeater includes receiving, from a base station (BS), configuration information on an amplifying gain for the NCR, identifying the amplifying gain based on the configuration information, amplify signals received from a terminal and the BS based on the identified amplifying gain, and transmitting the amplified signals.
