Abstract: A speaker includes a speaker enclosure including a peripheral sound wave exit to emit sound waves peripherally. A driver is connected to the speaker enclosure. The driver includes a speaker cone having an outer portion connected to a mounting plate that is disposed adjacent the peripheral sound wave exit. A phase plug includes a first portion positioned substantially parallel and adjacent to part of the speaker cone and a second portion that extends outwards toward a circumference of the speaker enclosure.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a computer-implemented method that includes sending a stimulus signal to a loudspeaker. A measurement signal is received via a microphone. The stimulus signal is transformed into a stimulus time-frequency representation. The measured signal is transformed into a measured time-frequency representation. At least one frequency value is selected between the stimulus time-frequency representation and the measured time-frequency representation. Correlation analysis is performed using the selected at least one frequency value. Based on the correlation analysis, a statistical mode is determined to produce a start-time of the stimulus signal.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a computer-implemented method that includes receiving a trigger sound from a primary listening location. The trigger sound being received at multiple speakers in a synchronous network at different times. The trigger sound is recognized at the multiple speakers. A respective relative delay is determined based on a time differential function that determines time differences. Sound quality for the multiple speakers is improved based on the respective relative delay for each of the multiple speakers.

A column structure is disposed at least partially within the ring shape and substantially centered on the vertical axis. The column structure has a second horizontal width that is smaller than or equal to the inner horizontal width of the ring shape. The column structure includes an upper magnet, a middle plate disposed below the upper magnet and a lower magnet disposed below the middle plate.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a method comprising determining an actual elevation of a sound source. The actual elevation is indicative of a first location at which the sound source is physically located relative to a first listening reference point. The method further comprises determining a desired elevation for a portion of an audio signal. The desired elevation is indicative of a second location at which the portion of the audio signal is perceived to be physically located relative to the first listening reference point. The desired elevation is different from the actual elevation. The method further comprises, based on the actual elevation, the desired elevation and the first listening reference point, modifying the audio signal, such that the portion of the audio signal is perceived to be physically located at the desired elevation during reproduction of the audio signal via the sound source.
