摘要： Trick play resistant advertisements. Specified commercials could be recognized by the software in set-top boxes to prohibit the use of trick play for the duration of the commercial. The commercials would also be precluded from trick play when played in a multi-room system or when recorded to a DVD. Specified commercials could also be protected from updates or local ad insertion, and only be updated when specified by the company responsible for the commercial.

摘要： Systems and methods are disclosed in which analog television channels can be passed through digital set-top terminals. In some embodiments, among others, a switch and a splitter are included in a digital set-top terminal. The splitter is configured to receive a broadcast signal, and direct the broadcast signal to a first path and a second path. The first path has digital tuning circuitry, which processes the broadcast signal to produce an output signal for display on a television. The switch is located in the second path. The switch receives the broadcast signal from the splitter and the output signal from the digital tuning circuitry. The switch then selects between the broadcast signal and the output signal from the digital tuning circuitry. The selected signal is then output to a television.

A receiver network (i.e., a networked multimedia system) includes a splitter/isolation module (SIM), a primary set-top terminal (STT), and at least one point of deployment module. Accordingly, the point of deployment module and connected television utilize some or all of the features including hardware and software that are included in the primary STT via the networked multimedia system.
