Abstract: A toothbrush has a handle, a bristle-planted rod and a pumping mechanism accommodated in the handle. The rod is slidably held, at its rear end, by the main body of the handle. When the rod is pushed rearward and thereafter released, the pumping mechanism is operated so as to suck tooth-brushing material from a container forming a part of the handle and so as to feed the sucked material to the bristle-planted surface of the rod.
